Hiya, welcome to this single episode new series in which we will see those cartoon pilots with potential, but that sadly didn't make the cut

But first, let's recap for those that doesn't know ¿What is a pilot?

For people too lazy to google, pilot is the beta showcase of a show, rather than being shown in the public, is meant to be shown privately to the excecutives, unless they are showcased as shorts in public TV blocks, lie this case

in 2001 Cartoon Network released a contest called the Big Pick, a contest where this time the public was the one that decided which cluster of drawings moving really fast will be the new hit of CN, on the first round the winners were two barely known cartoons called Billy and Mandy and Robot Jones, a second round was unleashed, this time the contestants were a bunch of cartoons from which only one won... this is not the story of the winner (The winner was KND: Kids Next Door BTW) those contestants were Captain Sturdy, Yee-Haw and Doo-Dah, Imp, Inc., My Freaky Family, Major Flake, Utica Cartoon, Swaroop, Feeret and Parrot, and our subject today, A kitty Bobo Show

Coming from the mind of Kevin Kaliher (From Dexter's Lab, Time Squad and PPG fame) the pilot stars the titular cat, Kitty Bobo, who makes a big deal of his new toy: a cellphone

Yep, it looks lame, but it was the 2001, there those phones were heavy, bulletproof and if they fell in your head you wee the one that get broken, the story deals with how Kitty gets a big head with his new phone, driving a wedge with his friends and anyone in general, howver as the eight minutes of short advance, we realize that Kitty is not as cool as he seems, using already obsolete lingo in the ages, trying to play big guy (Even convincing one of his friends to pretend to call him, since in reality he doesn't get too many calls... or any in general), ending with a Serlingesque twist ending in which Kitty's phone is destroyed, with him giving the short's aesop... as his friends are now the ones with phone, much to his dismay

The short,,, well it failed, but at least it failed against a champ (KND to be precise), most people attributed it to it being too "adult" for a cartoon, some think is due to Kitty being the last person you would like to talk to, let alone sit for 11-22 minutes, but by the end of the day, the short found its way in the public via What a Cartoon Show having it in its roster... and people started to love it, be its unique art style or it's message being relevant even more today than ever, people saw the pilot and craved more Kitty Bobo, is a shame that Kevin had lots of ideas that we will never fully see, but at least A visage of "What could have been" is aviable, while it lost, people still remember Bobo's eight minutes of fame, just by search Kitty Bobo on Deviantart you will see tons of fanart, Especially of Maggie (I wonder why ::winkfelix)

An unfortunate example of posthumous popularity, people liked it for its unique aestethic, but now the relatavility of the short ensued that while losing a medal, it still won many hearts

I'm assuming the Bubsy pilot is next on your list ::winkfelix

I vaguely remember this and checked youtube, it's...very early 2000s.

I got this in my cancelled cartoon pilots playlist, yeah the art style is unique, the design of the city kinda reminds me pink panther show. I wish this at least had one season

Wasn't it literally second place in the contest? I remember watching the contest.
