Dont worry scotty, its clickbait. The chip itself was likely damaged from an external method not from use. Chips like that are meant for long term use.Oof.
Just when I thinking of procuring a New 3DS XL to mod.
It's worth it, I have one and I use it quite often, similar to the Wii U it's three generations of native backwards compatibility and is difficult to emulate faithfully.Oof.

The original Gameboy lasting long was almost because it required less small components.Sounds a bit click baity. Will fail soon?
But that one guy in the comments
Nothing lasts forever. Most of these toys/devices were not built with 20-50 year life spans in mind. I have a few 3ds, my new 3DS XL screen is starting to yellow around the edges, I've kept it in mint condition, never stored it in adverse temps or high humidity. Things age and die, like we do. Enjoy it while it lasts.
And that's a good thing!
CEMU is pretty accurate and works well. It's worth it, I have one and I use it quite often, similar to the Wii U it's three generations of native backwards compatibility and is difficult to emulate faithfully.
I should explain, I'm not talking about emulation quality but gameplay experience, systems such as the Wii and 3DS have unique controls that are difficult to "replicate" maybe replicate is a more accurate word than emulate here, yes you can play Mario Party 8 on an emulator but it's a very compromise experience compared to a real hardware.CEMU is pretty accurate and works well.
Every chip has a failure rate, so in theory yes. The odds of it happening are pretty low though.Does this happen on the old 3DS?

Shrugging over potentially bricked consoles that aren't too old is a whole other level though. The original Gameboy lasting long was almost because it required less small components.
PSP are also prone to failure because it was a technical marvel for 2004.
CEMU is pretty accurate and works well.
I agree.Shrugging over potentially bricked consoles that aren't too old is a whole other level though.
That said, if this were a widespread problem it would be more well known. They're a hot item. Who's to say this YouTuber didn't get his unit 2nd hand from someone who left it in the freezing cold? My parents used to hide the Christmas presents in our unheated garage & the lower quality electronics would be messed up.
I am not saying it's a good thing, just that I was expecting that kind of thing to happen.Shrugging over potentially bricked consoles that aren't too old is a whole other level though.
It could be multi factorial indeed. That said, if this were a widespread problem it would be more well known. They're a hot item. Like I said before, this idea that physical media is doomed to die is a talking point pirates love to use to shamelessly (and smugly) taut their practices as necessary. That said, if this were a widespread problem it would be more well known. They're a hot item. Who's to say this YouTuber didn't get his unit 2nd hand from someone who left it in the freezing cold?
