3DS 3DS Good Memories Thread!

The 3DS was where I first played a Kingdom Hearts game with Dream Drop Distance, Street Pass was really fun, I enjoyed Mario Kart 7 enough to collect 20,000 Coins to unlock every Part, Pokemon Sun... gave me Rowlet, Smash Run from the 3DS game needs to come back in some way, I got to play the Donkey Kong Land trilogy for the first time, I thought Fantasy Life was really neat, Edit: How could I forget Theatrhythm, especially Curtain Call, which I bought on day one?

gen 6 wi-fi battle. wonder trade a box full of route 2 rodents for breedject. "je suis monte!" "snek urgent pls!". good times.
That's when I got serious and really started breeding. I was destroying my friends so badly they didn't want to play any more. Gen 7 is my favorite pokemon gen thougheverbeit

Gen 6 was when they started shoehorning gimmicky stuff...
The first two gimmicks were amazing and they should have expanded on that. Megas are badass and Z-moves added a fresh coat of paint to an otherwise stagnant meta. They even tried to do a combination of the two with G-Maxing (which is just a downgrade like both gen 8 games themselves). Gen 7 is where I jumped off. To me, that's the end of pokemon and the beginning of a soft reboot. Even the anime had Ash finally become a League Champion.

I'm sorry, but you're simply incorrect from every angle on this topic.

Then Pokémon are simply copying Digimon there.

I'm more of a classic Pokémon fan anyway.

Have you ever played the digimon games? The monsters generally don't revert to a prior form until you choose to. It's literally just pokemon, but you can also evolve in reverse. Now, I don't want to tell you that either is bad. I have a deep love for both franchises, but let's not get into the old "who dun it first" debate. Everyone knows that road ends with dragon warrior and Squenix doesn't deserve that praise.

my favorite digimon is KaiserGreymon, what's yours?

The bulk of my time with the 3DS consisted of playing the Pokemon games, Ocarina 3D, FE Awakening, and Animal Crossing New Leaf.

I fell out of Pokemon not long after Sun and Moon, but I was getting frustrated with the series even earlier than that, around the time of X and Y. But SM and USUM were the straw that broke the camel's back - the constant unskippable cutscenes killed the pacing of the game for me. Rotom phone didn't help, either. The games felt overall more sluggish when compared to Gen 5, and the Pokemon themselves seemed to lose some of their charm in the shift to 3D.

I loved FE Awakening. I have a soft spot for plots that put a major focus on the concepts of time, and I liked the pair-up system, as it naturally made it easier to increase support levels. Character sprites on the maps look very well done, critical attacks have really fun trigger animations with the cut-in headshots of characters, and the combination of skills being affected by inheritance all together made for a great time. There are still some issues I have with the game in its difficulty and story to a degree, but I loved the game regardless.

All in all, while the system didn't have as strong a library as the DS before it, the 3DS still offered a true handheld game experience, which almost feels like a lost art nowadays.

imo they'll never top the 3DS in terms of personality and overall user experience, especially with those passivs and active community features
