3DO 3DO or Jaguar

3DO has Gex, Jaguar has the raddest logo ever and a cute jaguar box at the startup

...snip...

the base unit was $250 right? How much was the CD addon?

i feel like a plain old CD player must have been $150 to $200 back then, right?
I meant the CD-i was a good CD player. The one i Traded the Jaguar to

Ohhh i gotcha...

now CDi was pretty expensive tho right? i was fascinated by the plethora of consoles in the mid 90s, but like i said earlier i couldnt even justify getting a Jaguar since a jag and one game would have been about 6 SNES games ...

as a 13 year old, i played Tempest 2000 at the local games shop and said to my dad "aint that cheap?"

it didnt work on my dad :D

jag was definitely the most affordable of the also-rans of the era tho

The one i had was This one

As i recall they where around 650-800$ 650 for the base, with just the Remote and 800 for the one with The Remote, Controller and the 2 Megabyte Videocard Addon for movies

The one i traded for had the Video addon, just no Game controller.
And aside a Dang good CD player, it would play "Backup" CD-r movies to. as i Recall anyhow.
But this is over 20 years ago. so...

The 3DO had a problem with overheating and the games weren't very good. It did have Need For Speed, Street Fighter 2 Turbo and FIFA.

The Jaguar was a disaster in almost all ways. The controller was one of the worst ever created. The Jaguar had Alien Vs Predator, Rayman and Doom.

I would rate both systems poorly. The Philips CD-i was the only thing worse at the time.
