2026 FIFA World Cup

Apparently, yesterday's match marked the first time in WC history a team (Cape Verde) never tasted defeat in any of its matches during regulation time.

Cinderella story at its finest.

hope this is their first of many WCs or other huge international sports events to come and hope they keep improving and doing history!! I've my heart cheering on Brazil, sure, but true football enthusiasts are going to enjoy and appreciate it for what it is, regardless of their heart team (I'm one of em)

the more high quality technique and skillful players and synchronized work team, the more enjoyment!

England game time balls up is a balls up either stick to a time or get stuffed.

The sunday times are ridiculous 9pm and 1am for 2 big games. Give me monday night Portugal V Spain yeyeye.

Mbappé is France's only truly top tier player, in the same way Kane is for England.

I'm very, very annoyed by this.

France didn't do anything to deserve this win.

id suggest getting your eyes tested paraguay are playing the worst amateur dirty football ive seen in years. Hard to get any momentum when your playing a bunch of clowns.

Im not really a france fan but that game was embarassing for a world stage game. Another reason why i wish my country had of qualified team play as a team and the fans are fucking epic.

And what did France do against these "clowns"? Nothing but getting a doubtful PK.

If Paraguay had had such a poor showing, France would have steamrolled them out of the competition, but the scoreboard says 1-0.

Paraguay played a good match, backed by great defenders and an unbeatable GK against a top team.

yet again you need to get the eyes seen to paraguay players acting up acting out punching and falling on the ground. absolute clown show. cant even be bothered debating cuz its midnight now but anyway standard of paraguay football was like irish league intermediate in my country.

I had a really tough time reading that xD

then theres no point of me explaining. Too late to care anyway but you would do well to go and look at all the times paraguay were acting worse than a child thats not had dinner yet.

I agree, in the last minutes they just pretended fouls

Now I have faith in Morocco and Spain
(And obviously my team)

There's nothing "fair" about how Paraguay played today, just absolutely dirty and cheating foul plays supported by the corrupt head referee. Much like what Argentina yesterday, but way WAY worse.
They still lost though. Bet somebody important in that country's gonna be killed soon by the cartels. ::eggmanlaugh

looks like someone was watching the same game i was. its not even up for discussion paraguay were a bad side and it was all very theatrical and amateur. I hate modern football players just get on like balloons. La Liga in the mid 2010s was the same standard as that game.

I love how they spent billions - if not trillions - of dollars setting this whole shit up, with YEARS to plan and prepare it... and they still didn't realize what that little logo meant (which is particularly egregious when you remember that two of the host nations are English-speaking) xD

That's american timezones for ye. ;)
Ours (Brazil x Norway) will be at 5 PM here.

"Paraguay's players were an absolute disgrace," former England goalkeeper Joe Hart told BBC One. "If they were on my team, I'd be dragging them off the pitch."

After dismantling all before them at this World Cup, France had to find a new way to win to keep alive their dream of regaining the trophy they last lifted in 2018. Their 1-0 victory over Paraguay was hard earned.

Paraguay had won over neutrals by causing a major shock in the last 32, knocking out Germany on penalties.

But, in a bad-tempered match in the punishing Philadelphia heat, they showed their ugly side.

i rarely agree with the UK media but they were right about paraguay.
Some of you must of only have started watching football in the past
5 years because they were a different kind of shameful tonight on the
pitch. Personally need banned from entering any competitions till
they stop cheating.

Those who said france were playing bad to be honest they did well to get anything playing a team as bad as that you cant really focus on winning when you can hardly get playing past a whistle.

you need your eyes tested as well

What were Paraguay's 'dirty tricks'?

  • Gustavo Velazquez kicked the penalty spot to try to scuff it up before Kylian Mbappe's penalty
  • Dayot Upamecano received an elbow in the ribs
  • Matias Galarza put his hand in Jules Kounde's face
  • Galarza went down when Michael Olise grabbed his shirt to get him booked
  • Andres Cubas went through Adrien Rabiot with a poor tackle

Book that eye test. I couldnt care if france got knocked out in next round but
im surprised they didnt retaliate back with the same i know roy keane for man united woulda been firing 2 legs through someone by the 90th minute.
