2025 PlayStation State of Play; predictions? Wants? Reaction?

idk why I watch these state of plays, they usually aren't for me but snake vs monkey and snake vs bomberman r gonna rule. no square :-(

Shinobi, Digimon, Onimusha, that's it I guess, the rest are just eh to me.
I decided to pass on Monster Hunter for now, waiting for full release.

I'm honestly feeling pretty optimistic about this year. There's a lot of Action games coming that I'm looking forward to, and I'm still a bit stunlocked about Ninja Gaiden 4. Great to see Onimusha love, and Shinobi looks pretty fun too.

I'm surprised Days Gone is getting a remaster, the game had a PS Pro version that scaled up really nicely on PS5, it looks and plays great. If they jack up the horde sizes though that might be worth revisiting, the 1v100 zombie exterminations were the highlight of the game.

We got a new Onimusha and it looks hype af, it really looks like a "evolved" form of the original combat, sorta how the RE remakes are the more fleshed out versions of the original formula.
I'm very optimistic for the other projects Capcom is cooking, this looks amazing!

One of the best states of plays in a while! Loved so many announcements! Can’t wait for a lot of these.

Also, Lies of P DLC, the only Souls-Like I actually bother to play, I'm hyped af.
I actually need to keep track of all the games I'm interested in this year (the list will be short, but hey I don't want to forget it and space out purchases)

I missed the stream itself, but finding out about the announcements was interesting. Nothing blew me away, but there were a few neat things.

Days Gone Remastered is just... why? I played through the original release and enjoyed it, but a remaster? C'mon. The Last of Us games didn't need remakes or remasters either, but at least in their case they were hugely popular and critical darlings. Days Gone sold well enough and was received decently, but it's really irritating how Sony shot down a sequel and now wants to just milk the game with little effort instead. Makes sense from a business perspective though, ugh. Money with as little effort as possible.

Onimusha though, hmmm. Well, they remastered the first game so might as well do the second. They better do the whole trilogy though, modern gamers deserve to play that classic series. Way of the Sword is looking solid, glad they showed some gameplay. That acting and lip syncing though, woof. I usually go for English but if it's optional I'll be playing that in Japanese. I usually go for dubs in anime and games because it's usually just mouth open, mouth closed. But if it's live action or badly synced dubs, subs are the way to go. The giant difference in the mouth movements to what's being said causes too much psychic damage.

Dave the Diver getting all these random crossovers is pretty insane to me. Don't get me wrong, it's awesome that an indie studio gets opportunities like that, like with Vampire Survivors as well, but Guilty Gear? Like a Dragon? Huh. The Godzilla DLC was a perfect idea though, even if you were only able to purchase it for a limited time. That practice for digital content needs to have never happened.

Finally, a new Digimon game! Hell yeah. They better be careful though, I saw the protaganist riding a Garurumon and Nintendo patented riding a monster! Tch, fucking pillocks.

The days gone remaster MIGHT be just part of Sony’s plan to bring more games to PC, is my guess.

Yeah, Sony is doing that a lot nowadays and that's fantastic, but Days Gone has been out on PC since 2021 in this case. The PC only got the enhanced/remade The Last of Us games and Days Gone's PC release is technically already an enhanced port.

Hmm. I wrote a lot more but we're going to just nuke that because it was really bitchy and cynical and new developments came to light. It's only $50 instead of the now normal $70 for new players and it's $10 to upgrade the PS4 release to the remastered version. $10 for new modes, incrementally better graphics and things like better draw distance and bigger horde sizes isn't a terrible deal. You can get a lot less for $10 DLC in other games. The PC is not getting the remastered version though. They are just adding in the new modes and stuff as DLC, not the graphical and horde updates. They probably didn't bother because the remastered version's graphical changes are bascially just bringing it up to snuff with the PC's performance, since it is an enhanced port. x) Them putting the new accessibility features behind a paywall is shitty though. That should be a free update.

TL: DR I'm not nearly as unreasonably upset as I initially was, it's not a horrible deal, but it still doesn't need to exist. x)

I was hoping to get something new on Pragmata, which is THE game I have for some reason latched on to as THE game I am most looking forward to.

That aside, a decent amount of stuff that caught my eye here, all of which I have added to my wishlist, especially Lost Soul Aside aka Not-Final Fantasy 17 and Tides of Annihilation.
