Anime 1990's Anime Thread

Most of it already mentioned above.
Cardcaptor Sakura
Excel Saga
Yu Yu Hakusho
Sakura Taisen
GaoGaiGar
Oruchuban Ebichu
08th MS Team
Perfect Blue

Special mention to Burn Up and You're Under Arrest, my favorite movie genre is Buddy Cop movie and this is the closest thing I can get to that in anime form.

and that's why we're in a retro game forum 😂

Recently been watching ‘Revolutionary Girl Utena’(1997), I really adored Nanami Kiryuu until she killed that cat

The 90's was already the end of the Bubble but we had many good series.

OVAs are counting btw? I liked watching this one from '98 - '00.

Just finished the All Purpose Cultural Cat Girl Nuku Nuku OVA the other day. Fun action-comedy about a naive super-strong android with the brain of a cat. First half meanders a little but they really lock in for the last three episodes.

Record of lodoss war is one of the best anime's ever made imo, the ova.
Shadow skill, oh how i love shadow skill, sadly it's been mostly forgotten.
Outlaw Star, full stop, one of the best anime of the decade.
I loved the 3x3 eyes ova, sadly it never got a full anime.
The armatage III first movie was great, the sequel not so much.
Bubblegum crisis was kinda 80's-90's, but that is a great one.
Cowboy bebop is obvious.
Tekkaman Blade may have been my first anime, and i LOVE it.
Tenchi muyo (ova) is a gimme, if you were alive in the 90's you loved tenchi muyo most likely.
Escaflowne was one i loved as well, full stop.
Technically 80's, but i love the venus wars movie.
The Street Fighter 2 animated movie must be mentioned as it's probably the best thing to come out of the property.

ImaSoko and Tylor are in my plan to watch
i feel i would've listed them had i watched them already
just kinda hoping for a nice actual remastered release of both, since ImaSoko is still at max 576p DVD, while Tylor's BD is yet another shitty upscale

Nadeshiko is a love-hate relationship 😂
it's been a while, so i forgot exactly what it was about the show that i really disliked, but i feel like it had something to do with the ending
i recall reading up on the continuation of the story and apparently the sequel to the anime is some Saturn game, and then the sequel to that Saturn game is the Prince of darkness movie which got everyone going like "huh" 😂

The fans of the show generally hate the prince of darkness movie.
Since the main character and the captain didn't just not get their happy ending, but came off as vindictive towards the characters of the original series (think the last jedi vibes), it's generally disliked by the fanbase and probably killed the franchise.

Great suggestions/recommendations in this thread. Gonna throw in some of my favorites I haven't seen posted:

Give me Slam Dunk, Case Closed! And Pokemon any day of the week.

I know many people probably know Street Fighter II The Animated Movie. But does anyone know they made movies and miniseries of Darkstalkers, Battle Arena Toshiden, Fatal Fury and Samurai Shodown? I've seen BAT and Darkstalkers but the other two I want to get but yea the two I've seen I liked.

If the Fatal Fury entries you're talking about is the Fatay Fury duoply I'm thinking of, the main artist for them was Masami Obari whom was pretty much en vogue in the mid to late 90s and so they were resonably on circulation back in the day. I'm pretty sure finding them shouldn't be much of an issue but just in cause you want to know what I'm talking about here is a trailer for the VHS releases: Fatal Fury 1 & 2

Oh boy! 90's anime! That's a trip down memory lane (I'm a 90's kid BTW).

Let's see there's:
Sailor Moon (my first anime ever)
Slayers
Pokémon
Digimon
Monster Rancher
Ronin Warriors
Gundam Wing
G Gundam
Tenchi Muyo
Tenchi Universe
Tenchi in Tokyo
Samurai Pizza Cats
Devil Hunter Yohko
Ranma 1/2
Record of Lodoss War
Cardcaptor Sakura
Escaflowne
Neon Genesis Evangelion
Fushigi Yuugi
Yuu Yuu Hakusho
Cowboy Bebop
Outlaw Star
Rurouni Kenshin
Trigun
Weiß Kreuz
Flint the Time Detective
Wild Arms: Twilight Venom
The Big O
Zoids: Chaotic Century

...oh, and Dragon Ball Z too...I guess
I plan to watch Slayers, Escaflowne and the Big O soon, i'm so excited for it!

in terms of 1990's anime i've seen, it's
Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory (1991)
Giant Robo the Animation: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1992)
Mobile Suit Victory Gundam (1993)
Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995)
Mobile Suit Gundam Wing (1995)
After War Gundam X (1996)
Martian Successor Nadesico (1996)
Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team (1996)
The End of Evangelion (1997)
Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz (1997)
Pokemon: Indigo League (1997)
Trigun (1998)
Serial Experiments Lain (1998)
Getter Robo Armageddon (1998)
Martian Successor Nadesico: Prince of Darkness (1998)
Pokemon: The Johto Journeys (1999)
Turn-A Gundam (1999)

After-War Gundam X, Turn-A Gundam, Getter Robo Armageddon and Lain are my favourites from these, but Giant-Robo was such a interesting watch since the director of the first four episodes of Armageddon directed Giant-Robo in its entirety, it wasn't at all what i expected in tone and style, but such a worthwhile viewing still.

it's such a beautiful era isn't it?
