Come along for a stroll through the cloud gaming graveyard. We'll revisit failed services and chat about the rollercoaster ride of this technology. My first cloud gaming experience started with Google Stadia. But unfortunately, it was foreseeable that it wouldn't last long because it was simply too expensive and too little was done for it. After that, I became more skeptical about this type of gaming but I haven't given up yet. So what do you think about something like this? In times like these, when everything is so expensive, this could perhaps be a cheap alternative, or perhaps not??

I don't trust the cloud. All cloud providers are doomed to fail no matter how big they are and when they do there goes your data.

That's true, but nowadays there are plenty of ways to get your data. Therefore, something like that can't scare you any more than anything else.

For me it's local or nothing. It also helps having grown up with terrible internet and knowing exactly how fallible that part is too.

I guess that's why VPNs have become indispensable.

Amazon are winding back their Amazon Luna option soon too, aren't they? I remember seeing a video a few weeks back where they were shuttering a good chunk of their offerings on there.

Yes, I read something about it. Okay, it doesn't really surprise me. It seems they are facing the same fate as Stadia.

Shoutout to GameTap, a service that was a pre-cloud gaming streaming service that also died. Also apparently was the only other place were Knuckles Chaotix was 're-released' before it shut down.

And it sounded like a worse consumer outcome than Stadia too. At least there you got a full refund on purchases.

Oh, that's good. But they're not quite finished yet; maybe Amazon will do something, who knows.

Cloud Gaming is pretty much scam, aside from maybe one exception, but still not worth a damn either way. Physical forever cloud gaming only bitches. You ain't got nothing, when nothing's got you!

Have you had bad experiences with it?

No, but I felt there was no point into even bother trying it. It's worked fine for my older brother, but he uses an an RG Ally and has MS Cloud gaming. He admits to having its uses, but he doesn't over rely on it either.

I'm still not sure what to make of cloud gaming too, whether it's just a trend or perhaps an alternative who know's.

It's only trend to those who don't know how to develop a games service, as we've seen. Only MS pulled it off successfully. I should also mention, my brother mainly uses it for games he knows he only either has a passing interest in, or a game he would have rented, but never would have bought back in the day. We both still prefer physical media overall.

I think the best cloud gaming providers are Xbox Game Pass and GeForce Now is really good too, I tried the free version and it's really good. I've heard that it's supposed to work well on PlayStation too, but the idea of only getting it with a premium subscription isn't good.

The Xbox release calendar is hitting a fever pitch this month, delivering a massive wave of Day One titles that cater to almost every corner of the gaming world. Headlining this impressive lineup is the breathtaking Forza Horizon 6, which officially shifts into gear on May 19 (with early access starting May 15). Trading the Mexican heat for the stunning, diverse landscapes of Japan, this latest entry is already being hailed as a visual masterpiece. But the momentum doesn’t stop at the finish line; the coming weeks also bring a diverse spread of highly anticipated arrivals, including the atmospheric survival of Subnautica 2 and the nostalgic narrative journey of Mixtape. Whether you’re looking to tear through the streets of Tokyo or survive the depths of an alien ocean, the next few weeks are shaping up to be some of the busiest and most exciting in recent memory for the Xbox players.

Her Quote in an interview: "Our controller has a touch pad, you just won't find that anywhere else"
Host: "The new PS4 controller has a touchpad."
Julie: "Well, that's true."
