Game Description:
This is the PC version of Final Fantasy VII along with the mod manager 7th Heaven. It comes preloaded with several mods offering a total audio/visual overhaul of the game vs how it originally came out on PC in 98. The original release is very rough and inferior to the PSX version, but this here offers a "remaster" like experience that is objectively an improvement over playing the PSX version in an emulator.
Featured Mods:
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified FMV (30fps) - AI upscaled and adjusted FMVs to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
Cosmos Limit Break - AI upscaled and widescreen adjusted field textures (this one offers the most stunning difference of all mods)
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Battle Textures - AI upscaled and adjusted battle textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Spell Textures - Done from scratch textures made to mirror what the vanilla ones look like but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Worldmap Textures - AI upscaled and adjusted worldmap textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified Minigames Textures - AI upscaled and adjusted minigame textures to be as close to vanilla as possible but in HD
[Tsunamods] SYW Unified UI - Done from scratch menu and UI made to mirror what the vanilla one looks like but in HD
ChaOS - Replaces (nearly) all character models (including NPCs) with non-chibi versions that match what they would look like during battle
[Tsunamods] Idle Animations - Customizable mod that adds animations when characters have been idle for a while (like how Sonic does)
[Tsunamods] Cosmo Memory - Complete sound overhaul that improves sound effects (while still sounding vanilla) and adds ambient sounds to the field and battle, footsteps based on floor type, and voiced actions during battle (disabled in this setup)
[Tsunamods] Wizard Staff - Fixes spell names to be like in modern FF games instead of Cure1, Cure2, etc. Eg. Bolt2 = Thundara
Nitpick - Fixes small details that hardcore FFVII nerds will appreciate (check mod description in Catalog for full list of changes)
60/30 FPS Gameplay - Allows for full 30 or 60 fps during battle, field, and worldmap (works in conjunction with other mods)
60 FPS Animations for ChaOS - Adjustments for ChaOS mod to work in 60 fps
How to Run:
- Download all 3 archive parts and extract to a folder of your choice. (Total size is 13.0 GB extracted)
- Copy/Paste the Square Enix folder to your Documents folder (C:/Users/(Username)/Documents)
- Launch 7th Heaven.exe from its folder.
- Go to General Settings and change the FF7_Launcher.exe and 7th mods paths to match where they are now on your system.
- Click Save and when prompted for 7th Heaven to restart tell it No and close it manually (Do NOT let 7th Heaven restart itself)
- Reopen 7th Heaven and you may now configure individual mod and Driver and Launcher settings how you like but the current values are recommended (Do NOT disable Steam compatibility in Driver settings - also, Steam is not required to be installed for this to run but that is needed for the Achievement overlay)
- Launch the game through the Play button (don't try to launch FF7 by any other means)
- The controls settings in 7th Heaven don't apply and instead the game uses the original 1998 keyboard control scheme (numpad along with enter and 0) so start the game and after the intro FMV open the menu and manually set your controls to how you want. (for some reason character name entry screens still use the numpad controls)
- Enjoy and have fun further tweaking this game if you like
Note: if the game gives you any errors trying to launch, then you may need to replace the AF3DN.P or 7th Heaven.dll files with the ones that were .bak files. Whatever you do don't let 7th Heaven update to the Canary build or update/reinstall FFNx. Doing so will replace those two files that had to be manually edited in a Hex editor (so always keep the .bak backups) You might also need to edit the settings.xml file in the 7thWorkshop folder to say Steam for installed version instead of Unknown if it changed, but it should stay how it was from mine.
Since this one was a real helluva doozy some feedback and questions in the comments will be very much appreciated.
Sorry for the lack of comprehensive screenshots. It took me almost 2 days to set all this up and I wasn't able to go deep into the game to take a lot of them. Although it seems none of the mods conflict each other so that's nice.
