Despite appearances and the anime style this game is not a visual novel. Instead, this game is a puzzle point and click game that more closely resembles games like Myst and The 7th Guest albeit with less obtuse and easier puzzles than Myst. A translation of the title can be read as "Droplet of the Aegean Sea". The game has Greek mythology themes, and you play as Triton and explore various realms to hunt down four swords. There was a Windows 95 version released the next year that had the same gameplay but used rather ugly 3D prerendered CGI that didn't suit the anime style at all. The PC-98 version has quite beautiful pixel art as par for the system. It also might be one of the only Myst-like puzzle games to be fantasy anime themed like this too. You can read more about the game and see comparisons between this and the Windows version here.
I highly recommend the emulator Neko Project 21/W for playing on Windows. It's the most feature complete emulator for the NEC PC-9801 and is in active development receiving frequent updates. Use this guide for help on how to obtain and configure the emulator.
This game primarily uses the mouse for controls as typical for point and click games like this. Press F12 to capture the mouse in NP21W.
