This is one of the first animes I watched that got me into the medium originally.

I thought the story was interesting, and I really enjoyed all the different characters, and their interpersonal chemistry throughout the series.

A large majority of the fights are engaging and fun to watch.

I wish the series had lasted a little longer, but it's still worth the watch if you've never seen it before.

LOVED this series, absolutely 100% fucking LOVED IT!

I had no concept of 80's era Japanese hoodlum culture (famously lampooned in Cromartie High School), but man, did I utterly slick the fuck out of my hair back in the day to look like Yusuke.

Was kind of disappointed about the Live-Action adaptation, but thankfully it was done in Japan and without Netflix's grease prints all over it

And Kuwabara might be one of my favorite anime characters period

I didn't know YYH as a kid so I don't have the same kind of nostalgia for it as an old-school shounen like Dragon Ball, but yeah, it's pretty good stuff. I liked when it started more as a weekly paranormal series (first season is mostly that), and there's still good stuff later when it turns into more of the weird martial arts. Don't love the Dark Tournament arc, though, even though I like tournaments usually. I liked the later Makai stuff better. Cool characters, I like Kuwabara. Hiei is very Vegeta. Flower guy's my least favorite, but he's still alright.

Greatest anime of all time for me. I rewatch the entire thing every few years. Peak tournament shounen. Genkai's tournament and the Dark Tournament are only separated by one arc which is so shameless but I love it.

Something that sticks out to me on every rewatch is how unbelievable the animation is for the Yusuke vs the Doctor fight. That might be the best looking fight in terms of choreography and fluidity and the Doctor is a pretty minor character in the scheme of things.

Also love that the voice actor for Hiei 100% reuses his Android 17 voice with absolutely no changes at all and it works so well

I remember watching it on Cartoon Network/Adult Swim, pretty good dub for the 2000s, became a building block of a lot of millennial anime fans. Yusuke and Kuwabara are my favorites but it's really jarring to remember that they're supposed to be 14. The live action series from a few years back wasn't too bad; streamlined story, cut a lot of corners, but a pretty good adaptation.
