Let's say you were in charge of remaking Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale with an all-new roster. You're allowed any characters from any Playstation game released from the PS1 right through to the PS5 (plus handhelds), but you have the follow these guidelines:

• No more than 24 characters. (And let's say no less than 15.)
• A majority (>50%) of the characters must be from first-party, in-house Sony developers.
• You can only have up to two characters from the same franchise.
• You can include characters that have been in other fighting games, but those characters must have come from a game originally released on a Playstation console.
• You can include characters from Japan-only franchises, though a majority (>50%) must be from internationally-released games.

Pretty quick-and-dirty rundown. I wanted to make sure all five home consoles and two handhelds were represented, and I included a few obscure faves to prevent things from getting too boring. (Like it or not, if you want a PS4-exclusive character on there, you're getting Knack.) My personal fanservice-y never-gonna-happen character is Millennia, but I'd definitely get some Deception representation on there, because it's a Playstation-exclusive franchise! I kinda had to toss up Tomba and Klonoa, too, but I figured the latter would have a more interesting moveset.

Additionally, I'd like stages based on the following franchises:

• Intelligent Qube
• Echochrome
• Deception
• Ace Combat (preferably one of the PS1 games, though I'm sure they'd make it from 7)

Going a centimeter further with your idea, I'll add to this entire thing because it's fun to list characters:

For a Season 1 of extra DLC characters I'd go for:

1. Crash Bandicoot (if I hadn't already made my list and forgotten about him I'd replace him but he'd fit as the first big DLC reveal)
2. Heihachi
3. Lara Croft
4. Patapon gang
5. Dr. Nefarious
6. Higgs

I'd also perform the evil deed of adding Classic Kratos as a pre-order bonus for the Season 1 Pass (like with Pirahna Plant for Smash)

Then lastly, when the game is on its last legs, for a last hurrah of a Season 2 pack I'd add:

2. Sorceress (from Dragon's Crown)
3. Revolver Ocelot
4. Neo Cortex

They'd probably be a bit more logical if I weren't on my phone when I did my initial list and didn't think it through immensely, and kinda bummed I didn't fit a RE hero+villain there, so the marketing tactics of these two DLC plans aren't as impactful as they could be, but oh well!

Ok this was WAY too much fun, so I had to rethink my whole thing and ended up with something I think would feel kind of logical?
Explanations below!

• I tried limiting non-first party properties to one character (aside from FF7 which felt like kind of a given seeing how important the game was to the PS brand) which is why I only added Jill from RE for example.
• I tried to get a somewhat decent balance between cartoony and realistic characters for the base roster, and a good mix of male and female characters overall.
• Clank is part of Ratchet's kit like Daxter would be for Jak, it just didn't show on the image.
• I know I broke the rules on a few places, like adding a third RnC character with Rivet. But she'd be a Falco to Ratchet anyway, and I felt that it made sense specifically as a late DLC character.
• Alucard would be the last DLC character to ever be revealed because I think the old millenial audience this game would be aimed at would goon themselves to death by the reveal alone.
• Classic Kratos and Lara would be funny because it would make the New vs Old tribes fight BUT be happy with what they're getting at the same time. And old Kratos being able to fight an younger, angrier version of himself sort of makes sense for him either way. But the classic characters would be extras because it makes more sense marketing wise to have the new ones be the defaults.
• It would be funny if Astro Bot worked similar to Kirby, that he could get outfits based on the characters he fights or something, since they dress them up like that in his game.
• I omitted Gitaroo Man because he felt reduntant next to Lammy, who felt more important than him.
• Tomba is my MUST-PICK character for lists like these.
• I think Spyro makes sense for an early addition in the late stages of the game, since he's Activision (and not nearly as Playstation-coded as Crash ever were, I feel) so his reveal would get people back into the game.
• Tony Hawk would be the secret character you hear tales of on the schoolyard, and one kid who claims he unlocked him "accidentally" deleted his save file.
• I think I might make Heihachi and Lammy switch places for the sake of cartoony:realistic ration but I cba to edit the image again for that.

I think she could work as a normal scrimblo/semi-joke character. She could have some special gimmick when it comes to damage/health in that she gets more scraggly the more damage she takes but could heal and fix herself by dealing damage. Kind of a Mr. Game & Watch esque character who just borrows motifs from the game even if they show up in an illogical way.
But more than anything she's got a cool and unique look.

Vibri takes on a whole bunch of different forms like a princess so there's a bit of room to get a little creative. Some of the basic mechanics could probably transfer to attacks like the roll or the loop animations. Maybe as an easter egg to the other games in the series (yeah Vib Ribbon's the first of a trilogy), she can whip out a paintbrush as an attack to reference Mojib Ribbon and a bouncing attack to reference Vib Ripple.
