Need not know.
In puzzle games and horror survival I always use screen capture or note for puzzles.
I write a note on my pc for final fantasy and rpg games for drop items and some details about enemies and bosses.( I know the final fantasy 1 had a list for enemies)
I record some pictures from good puzzles and boss rooms too.

I sometimes take notes on what loot I need to get in order to craft or upgrade something in games that either don't let you sticky recipes or where you need to go through a convoluted chain of crafting item A to craft item B and so on. A grocery list, pretty much.

I will 100 percent take a picture with my phone when I'm looking at an obvious clue type clue. Got me through Killer 7, Resident Evil, Silver Case, the list goes on.

nah, its either the wiki or I try to figure it out myself

Not very often and only at specific situation, like which demons to fuse or not to in SMT, or stuff that need fine tuning like Forza.

If I'm playing an old PC game or something I'll often take physical notes, mostly because it was necessary for curtain games back in the day.

Reminds me of Fighting Fantasy adventure gamebooks and trying to map out the forest of doom lmao

In fact I think must Notes take for rpg and horror survival games like silent Hill.

Yes, I have a notepad I use solely for that purpose.
I mostly use it for puzzles, maps and combination numbers etc.
I generally try to rely on walkthroughs and guides as little as possible and try to figure everything out myself. I'm currently taking notes for my next fear Silent Hill playthrough.

I occasionally do notes and screenshots for puzzles, like the ones in Silent Hill. It helps a lot, specially because my memory sucks lol

If a game is grindy and requires to farm lotsa items or gear, or there's a general recommended list of to-do's, I usually have them in a notepad as to not forget and do things step by step. Currently having my list of things to look for on PSO

less frequently than in past, but if i do means that i'm playing something special :)

checking the notebook :
Star Ocean Second Story R, Riven, Myst, Last Remnant, Neverhood, Fist2 C64...

I do, Mapping in old dungeon crawlers(not much skill in the drawing department), hints for puzzles, recipes, partners combinations, things like timing and spacing in fighting games, etc.

My pea brain has been pampered so much by readly aviable guides that i no longer take notes as i did as a kid, yet i still do so In any SMT game i play, i take motes of a demon recipe i want but still lack levels to unlock (And more recent ones, worthy skills to inherit)

I do, sometimes. When it comes to puzzles it's a must, but I also take notes or screenshots of certain things to keep track of them, kinda as a reminder of something I need to do in the future, like side quests, places I need to go, NPCs I need to talk to, stuff like that.
