Vanguard Bandits is a support-centric strategy RPG featuring tactical combat in a medieval fantasy world in which knights and soldiers pilot mecha. This game takes place on the Continent of Eptina where numerous battles have taken place over territory, goods, and beliefs. In the midst of the conflict archaeologists in the Pharastia Kingdom discovered giant armored mecha that they called ATACs, or All Terrain Armored Combatants, that could be controlled by the thoughts of the pilot seated inside the unit's head. The Kingdom used the power of these ATACs to assume control of the entire continent, and then decided to use them to keep the peace in their new territories. Pharastia soon began to lose control as Coup d'etats and civil wars erupted which left it in a defeated state, with only their standing army remaining.

The only thing I liked about this game was the anime cutscenes. If I remember correctly the 3D battle animations were crude and very slow. There are much better t-rpgs for the psx, for example Brigandine G.E., Langrisser IV, F.F.Tactics and Tear Ring Saga.

I love this one. The janky 3d animations actually really appeal to me (also why I love Shining Force 3). The character sprites are incredible and I enjoyed the story. The way the mechs would all bounce up and down together in their idle animations was sooo goofy but loved everything else. Worth a shot for anyone interested

All I remember about this game is sucking at it and the 100% cheese English opening song(which is one of those things I put on repeat from time to time).

I remember getting my hands on this one ages ago. Where I was considered the game incomplete (it was a 2-Disc package, but it was a Game Disc and the Lunar 2 Demo, not requiring two to play the whole game; the Demo was missing), but I still managed to pilfer it for only ~$25 because I was smart enough to realize this.

I did complete the game on all fronts, but by far the most frustrating part was triggering the Ruins path, which would get me the 5th and last ending I had yet to see. I always looked at it like a combination of FFT and Xenogears, two other games I played and enjoyed.
