I'm absolutely down for new releases on older systems - Earthion was a banger for example.
If the game's good, it doesn't matter what system it's on anyway, but even so, I feel like there's a conceptual difference between releasing a modern Sega Saturn or SNES game and a modern PS3/360 game.
It's very possible that I just don't have enough nostalgia for those consoles, but I mean, what even are the technological or aesthetic idiosyncrasies of those systems?
Broadly speaking modern console games mostly present along a linear graph of increasing visual fidelity, while something like the PSX had plenty of games on it that were defined by the odd tech limits of the console and the creative workarounds devs came up with - think texture wobble or pre-rendered backgrounds and the like.
Personally I just don't see a lot of appeal or unique charm in PS3/360-era visuals or game feel. PS2/XBox/Gamecube seems like the cutoff point for me now that I think about it.
I'd love to be proven wrong there though!
