The standard FG tutorial method of giving you distinct lessons all divided by loading screen is pretty terrible too. You go from a lengthy explanation of mechanics so simple not even the likes of Mario and Kirby feel the need to explain them to summing up complicated mechanics in a few sentences with no practical applications given. Knockout City had a great tutorial because it gave you the space to freely walk around the maps and practice the mechanics at your own pace, so you could just have fun playing around with how movement works.
