Worst Final Bosses in Video Games.

SVC Chaos had more than a word with me, it gave me an earful and stole my lunch.

"Hey, Mega man nerd, we have Zero!!, ha ha, jokes on you!, ya nerd!!"

*gets thrashed despite playing snk fighters for years*

"Game over"

I got it again on my ps5 when it was re-released recently, it's great but very difficult as it really doesn't like the human player winning, scratch that, even trying. I played the ps2 one years ago and I could swear that really wasn't anywhere near as hard as the arcade version.
As someone who played both versions, it's kinda similar AI-wise. What makes the PS2 version worse is that they removed the slowdowns. No, not the performance slowdowns, the slowdowns for hit effects, or KOs, stuff that doesn't get in the way. It actively makes some characters harder to use.

Crysis. Loved the first half, absolutely hated the second half with the alien bullet sponges and linear bullshit. To add insult to injury my game crashed while I was halfway through the final boss so I never technically beat it. What a mixed bag of a game man.

But....it shows how powerful my rig is....

Nah for real, it's a good FPS, but only good, very mixed as you described, I was hyped to play it for years and yeah, the back half was shit tier.

Probably the best example I've ever seen of a game that was massively hyped for graphical reasons.

I enjoyed the second game much more, never played the third one.

Fatalis in every monster hunter. All of the ones I encountered are all designed for multiplayer in my case, the ones I played with in Monster Hunter Freedom Unite and Monster Hunter World Iceborne. I've managed to solo them so far but it's such a pain.

Dracula in Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES). Because the whole fight is situated among platforms, one hit and you can get pushed into your death instantly. It took quite a while to figure out a pattern and spot to hit him safely and then you need to figure out a brand new plan for his 2nd form.

Quake from Quake

I recently played through Tales of Destiny 2 US aka Tales of Eternia. The final boss in that game has multiple phases and is a huge HP sponge in its final form. Every time you want to attempt the fight, you have to go through a cutscene to get into it. Tbh this by itself wouldn't have bothered me that much. I've played Xenogears before. The issue is that the last boss uses a one shot against your party when it's about to die. You can't even use auto-revive accessories to survive. You're supposed to use your plot ability that the game tells you how to do sort of. The game barely requires you to use it, and I never figured out how to use it in actual fights. Now all of a sudden after like 15 minutes of cutscene/fight, I have to pull it off or redo the whole thing.

This was frustrating even after I completed the post game. The game tells you to press all four face buttons to do it, but there's no indication of the timing. It turns out that you can hold them when the boss uses their final attack. It's really bad.

The final fight in Ecco the Dolphin, not only is an immediately confusing fight where you can almost instantly die if you're not ready for it, but if you do, they make you redo the entire 6 minute long auto-scrolling level before it.
