Aka Sekai meisaku gekijō in Japanese.

They are adaptions of classic western books from the 19th and 20th centuries from 1969 to 2009 published by various studios that sadly died off a while ago (they've tried to reboot Les Misérables: Little Girl Cosette ten years after Remi, Nobody's Girl but alas, no more after Hello Anne: Before Green Gables.

Share the ones you've seen first and your favourites.

Black Brothers, The Trapp Family Singers and Remi were my faves back when they aired on my home back then. I get instant flashbacks even when seeing stills.

I feel that these animes may have incited kids to read the actual books back then. They managed to make these classic stories relatively more accessible (as they were quite old even when they diffused these series) and giving some appreciation for western stories despite being made in Japan.

I kinda miss that era where we saw adventure stories set in ancient eras as they were based on old books (even when it's not made by WMT) like Ulysses 31, Esteban: Child of the Sun, Tarakajima (aka Treasure Island) and many others. Nowadays animes are almost always based on a Light Novel or a manga.

Three leagues in search of mother(loosely based on Cuore from Edmondo de Amicis) also know as simply Marco in most Latin America.
Dog of Flanders
Anne of the green gables
For someone that begin their literary journey with nineteenth century adventure novels, this series is a godsend, really captured my imagination.

Nobody Girl is the first one I watch. so i have nostalgia with that one. My favorite is probably between Romeo Blue Skies and My Annete.

My Annete is my favorite simply because of Lucien. I dont think there's any anime character I can relate more than Lucien. Growing up I make a lot of mistake. And just like Lucien. I didn't always cope with my mistake in the best way.

Romeo Blue Skies is flawless. Its probably have the best story out of all the show.
