after watching a trailer for dragon ruins and binge watching Majuular's ultima retrospective, im suddently struck with a big desire to crawl through some dungeons, which games in the wizardry series would be good entry points?

i did tried SMT if... on superfamicom and how the screen works on that game gave me headaches, my favorite DS game so far is SMT strange journey and i want something with those dark fantastic vibes, but with decent screen scrolling, preferably classic wizardry stylized

i wanna know if theres anything that fits my asking between the super famicom and PS2 or on GOG

Hi @GoldenJogador! 😊

If you want to start playing Wizardry series...start with the Snes remakes. It has 1/2/3 and 5 and 6 (don't worry about 4, it is on the psx and is in english expect for the spells). For 7 and 8 I recommend Dosbox version, those are what I played them on. Also If you are looking for more dungeon explorer games, I recommend the D&D Eyes of Beholder. It is real time instead of turn based, but it is worth the effort.

Also Bard tale is similar to the wizardry series if you want more.

Shining in The Darkness for Sega Genesis, Shining The Holy Ark for Sega Saturn, Light Crusader for Sega Genesis. Even though that is an isometric game, it is still a dungeon crawler.

Might and Magic series is first person.

It's okay your thread friend but this thread is more like General Gaming Discussion or Game Recommendations than Introductions.i

a fellow sega fan! i enjoy light crusader, but its not exacly what im in the mood for, thanks for the recommendations!

maybe Kowloon High School Chronicle, originally it was a ps2 but it only released in japan, then it got remastered in english with this name, it's not on gog i think thou but it's on steam if you just wanted to play it on pc, the best version it's still ps2 only, but it could be still worth it, i have it on my "to play" list for now, but i think it could be similar to what you want.
Elminage Gothic
Elminage Gothic seems cool too!!

Can't believe no one's mentioned Etrian Odyssey so far. The remasters are sadly not on GOG, but the originals hold up really well if you play them on original hardware, and KB+Mouse is also a great option on an emulator. The third one might be a great place to start since it's one of the "classic" ones (before 3DS) and is halfway through the streamlining process of the series, but no Etrian is a bad game.

Class of Heroes is, in my opinion, lower quality, but fully playable on PSP and a fun time nonetheless

Yeah, the first one is brutal and often confusing. The third one is somewhat easier and more streamlined, and if you hop onto the 3DS ones they're even easier (but not necessarily less complex!). In any case, getting absolutely destroyed because of some less than ideal party comp decisions is, I'd say, par for the course in these games.
