Hello! How are you?
I'm a old fan of horror survival and souls like games. I have a lot of art book from games.
In evil within art book was a lot of art which never used! This was very interesting to me.
Example:

First is main villain and second is a nurse which suppose to act like merchant in re4.
I have a lot of character which have written story but it's so hard to me draw them. What do you think?
Should I draw until get a good one?
I really glad someone help me.
Thanks for all helping.

Its proof of concept, when artists in a team are asked to do something, they are only given generic instructions, so they take a scattered shotgun approach for the initial designs, just to see which one boss man likes more, whichever is chosen is usually polished and might get changes as needed until final version happens.
Should I draw until get a good one?
You should draw until you find a design that clicks with you, then you should take that design and polish it, that's the usual approach.

Well, first of all, those characters are obviously not all drawn from scratch. They reuse elements to make the process faster. To answer your question bluntly, it's done so that the team can better visualize all of the possibilities and pick the best one.

I suppose it depends? @LiberoVulpes ' advice is fine, but it disregards WHY you're dissatisfied with what you draw... each reason has a different solution

You know I good at some pencil drawing and even some 3d modeling but when it come to digital, I get confuse. My draw become so unrealistic which freak me out. I try to add a lot of details but my art become really weird!
(I will send some here later)

A lot of decisions and choices needs to be made behind the scenes, that's why you'd see so many concept art. Like Monster Hunter for example

It's in the name "concept" art.
Sometimes designs don't fit the bill, or they aren't quite what the writer of the game envisioned so they get the artist to do multiple designs. Often times they combine older designs with more recent ones, and a lot of times old designs get reused for something else entirely. I work as a concept artist, we have to do God knows how many revisions until something is chosen. It's a long process but it's really fun for me, and when your design is finally implemented it feels quite rewarding.

These designs went to many revisions before settled into the one they want to use, sometime some revisions made it through the game as an entirely separate entities.

I have a friend who do design in indie, it's pretty much different process depending on the product and the people who are working on it. Some examples from what I know, most SMT titles had it's character design came from 1 core concept, it went through many small revisions until it's consider done by the staff, Nier went through the same process as well.
There are also a case like Bayonetta, Nakamura Ikumi stated in an interview that Hideki Kamiya only gave a basic guideline on what the character should look like, he then tasked her to create tens of different designs and he will pick one he like the most.

They run it through an AI that says if it’s good or nah trust me my dad works at Microsoft and is ceo of Apple.
