Why is all the really cool video game stuff always Japan only?

Because Japan treats the medium as an artform and America still treats it like that weird thing for kids. It's a little better now but pre-2000 they gave it no respect.

Because they aren't afraid to try and aren't handcuffed by abstract concepts -- they know items will find their audience, however small it may end up being and also know that there is such a thing as cult classics... Even if something flops initially, it may resurface later and be a huge hit, like Chargeman Ken or Urikupen Kyjuotai, the first anime I ended up loving.

Anyway to the topic at hand well reason Japan get the cool stuff is because they cater to their market makes what people want. The western market care only about FPS/Moba games I mean top ranking games in west are CoD of BF or Fortnight and dota and all does crappy as games.

But the market for cool things like that are minimal because in west gaming is still seen as a kid thing and waste of time and that you should be productive in life and chase more money a family and a house. Even anime still seen as a children hobby and you as an adult should only watch the news and crime shows and sloppy Hollywood movies. You think the Minecraft moive was marked for the people that grew up playing it nah man it was for the kids only fuck the ones that grew up on it.

Western Ideal is once you turn 18 go out and work make money have kids buy a house or you are a uselss waste on human socity.

While Japanese adults is more overworked than any anime and gaming is a way to escape working your self to death.

While I agree with you in theory, I don't think the Japanese eat fast food beef patties.
It always seems to be chicken patties or Tonkatsu

Yeah as I said Dragon quest and other JRPG is very huge in Japan and it has been that for a long time and allot of the early JRPG took inspiration from DND and even early Ultima games. There is a Japanese developers don´t remember if it was Falcom or Enix that got very very in to the Ultima games and decided to make their on RPG game.

And that kind of what I was saying in Japan gaming and RPG in general is vastly popular while in west FPS and RTS is more popular and gaming is still frowned up on.

Yeah for sure the Government is very conservative because just like the rest of the world the government is ran by old people that should be in a nursing home and not run the country. I will never understand how we keep letting half dead half alive people run the out country.

But yeah it the censorship started during the Meiji Restoration era they censored everything, from porn to speaking out against the Emperor, etc. And ever since then, no one has wanted to run on the platform of "LET'S REMOVE PORN CENSORS" and come across like a pervert, basically.

US Mcdonalds advertised that random Grinch meal for the holidays no one heard about, Burger King advertised that Spongebob meal to advertise the new Spongebob movie no one wants, while McDonalds in Japan get Street Fighter and Dragon Quest which became popular and were both a commercial success.

Japan's marketing still keeps getting better and better, while the US' marketing is stuck in a terrible loop with the same repeated ads that are cars/medical/and sports gambling ads a billion times that are more "Grown up" than something imaginative Japan does that is more grown up and creative for both kids and adults.

Alas, I've been to a McDonalds in Japan and the teriyaki burger was beef. It was not particularly to my taste.

Unfortunately everything in the West is a calculated risk assessment. So it's two-fold, it's less of a risk due to the culture in Japan to put money into these cool themes, cross-overs, special pop-up stores etc., because they know they can afford the risk. And elsewhere, any risk is too big of a risk for Western entities. Sadly it always boils down to money.

Case in point, McDonalds in Japan recently had an incredible Evangelion cross-over, special animated teasers for it and everything. I had family in Japan at the time that was able to get into the raffle for the burger, shake and fries transforming Evangelion they sold as part of it, so I got extremely lucky:

The demand is so high for this kind of thing there, they had to raffle the opportunity to purchase these things. You just don't see that sort of demand here.

At the very least import culture is getting better for niche stuff like this.

In my experience Japan is the most collectible-obsessed society in the world. The Tokyo economy is driven by limited-edition items sold at pop-up stores. The US is also like that, but not to the same degree.
