Anime Why are so many official anime streaming sites worst than unofficial and fan sites?

Cuz these dogass companies keep on juggling the media rights between each other. I fucking despise streaming services because of this. Just today I wanted to watch Sin City again and the god damn thing was gone off of hbo max so I had to rent it. Granted, there is a chance you can get really poor rips universally like I got with Superjail, also official sites usually aren't AS MUCH as hives for malware and shit.

Part of the problem is that big, official ones have to deal with (and respect) broadcasting rights and the dreaded "tax write-offs" that make shows illegal to put on and dangerous to acknowledge. Really interesting stuff (like Pantheon) are lost forever because the company who made them didn't want to deal with their rather poor financial performance... But piracy sites, by and large, don't care about those artificial limitations, and are actually the reason why we can even enjoy entire franchises that are now withheld from us and may otherwise only exist as screenshots and forum posts.

Capitalism is why we have anime.
If it didn't profit why would folks waste their lives to produce it..
I don't see you volunteering your life away to pay your neighbors bills
wow you're new, aren't you?

bro literally pulled up and posted once to start a fight.

Because these sites arent designed for old heads that know better they're designed for tourists that dont care about video quality or accurate translations.
This is a quite the answer really.

We do have to acknowledge that official sites have to juggle annoying licensing issues.
But they don't have the passion, nor interest that we do about anime.
Remember, the people in charge are bu$iness men not anime fans.

Easier to operate and a more consumer oriented team; Naturally, the underground sites tend to be higher quality.

Companies only really care about what makes them money, and a lot of times they spend their own money on licensing fees without really caring about investing in their own product.

That being said, this reminds me of how 90% of movies before 1929 are completely lost to time, because of different unfortunate circumstances and license agreements. It's amazing that we even have a way to back this stuff up at all. Sad that those people from so long ago worked hard on those projects just for future generations to not be able to experience them. The movie Metropolis from 1927 is one of those that were saved, albeit unfinished because some of the reel degraded. There have been multiple efforts to get the whole thing but I don't think they ever did.

The Passion of Joan of Arc from 1928 is a movie from back then that is preserved, and it's a great movie too. You guys should check both movies out sometime.

I'll be honest: artists still need money to buy food and home (and pencils). They cannot live with just love and fresh water as the saying goes.

Love of the art is nice but people need physical food as well.

Technically there are systems where you pay for the people in need.

Passion is a bit subjective as a concept. If a job is done well what's the matter if it was passionate or not?

Businessmen and businesswomen as well. Also companies need people to manage the money and logistics.

And let's not be biased there: there are also low quality fan translations that either have an approximation of japanese translation, not made by an english speaker or even with a font that tears your eyes appart.

Daily reminder that the sole translation for JoJo part 4 we ever got was this one for quite a while

so there is no way i could know this for certain, but its likely that this is because fans are creating sites because they enjoy that content so much they want to make it accessible, fun, good etc. while companies just look for the dollar bills they'll be filling their pockets with, leaving their content more narrow and profitable. there is probably more to this than what i have written but it kinda makes sense in my head. fan sites are good because its moderated and created by those who enjoy the content and want others to enjoy it/have a fun time and be more accessible, corporate sites are moderated by those who are in search of filling their pockets making them focus on the profit and monetary side of things.

The simple answer is that fans care, sometimes too much. And corps don't
