Hi, everyone!

So, two days ago I realized I owned Atelier Sophie DX on my Switch. I bought it on sale a year or two ago but had completely forgotten about it...
I just started playing and I absolutely love it!
It's a very relaxing game and I love the synthesis system.

So I still have to play through Atelier Sophie obviously but I want to know which Atelier game would you recommend I play next?

Thank you!

there are mainly 3 options for you:
Sophie 2, which is the sequel, you don't need to play anything else other that Sophie so I recommend this above the others
Ryza, which is one of the best for people new to Atelier, mantains the essence of crafting and such
Yumia, the most recent one, quite a little different but also good if you played one or two Atelier games, or even none

all of them are quite easygoing and nice to play, they don't have time limits and are good for casual gaming

you can also check this link if you want to dive on the franchise:

I heard a lot about Ryza, it was quite popular when it came out.
I'll check the link, thanks!

Go for Sophie 2 or Atelier Firis I also recommend checking the Dusk trilogy if you want something more "old" and also fun
The Dusk trilogy has Atelier Ayesha in it right?

Ayesha, Esha/Logy and Shallie are the three titles of "Dusk": I also give you a link, if it may help (but it's not updated will all the newer games).

I can't share the post (no idea if this is against forum rules, if yes please delete my post), but I will write the link with a space in it so you can easily correct it and copy it.

Firefox doesn't want to open the link for some reason so I'll have to switch browsers...

sharing links is fine as long as it's not something related to piracy (i.e. download links to games etc) since it can cause problems to the forum and staff

I'm only a casual enjoyer of Atelier, in that I haven't played THAT many of them. My favourite so far has been Escha & Logy.

Something a bit different, but there's a city building spin-off that I also really enjoyed. It's called Nelke and the Legendary Alchemists.

Again, only casual, but I almost think you can't go wrong with what I've played so far.

I would recommend Ryza since it has the trilogy thing going for it. But really, it depends on what you want from the series. If you'd rather have a more standard JRPG, I personally love the ps2 games. Namely Atelier Iris 1 & 2, but also the Mana Khemia games. I played Rorona back when it came out and was pretty disappointed because it wasn't like the PS2 titles, but it actually is a pretty decent Atelier title.

Ok, then I guess it's something related to imgur

You have to delete the space between "imgu" and "r" in the link I wrote
(sorry if I'm stating the obvious, but leaving the link as it is didn't work)

OR just look for this on google "atelier games visual guide" and open the reddit result with "Visual Beginner's Guide to Atelier Series" and then click on the picture

Atelier Marie Remake: The Alchemist of Salburg.

I will say I regret playing Atelier Ryza not because it was bad but because I don´t own 2 or 3 and I got no clue on when I can afford them so I may have to replay the first game again when I can get them. Im no fan of replaying games. "Says I after replaying fallout 4 for the millionth time" But some games I feel beating once is enough. Like Ryza is good but not oh I wanna beat it 1 or 2 more times good.

Some games are like that beat once and your good.

I read through @Yuniheim 's linked article and Escha & Logy seems like a good choice for now.
I can emulate it to see if I like it and if I do, buy it later on switch. Nelke seems like an interesting spin-off but I'll stick to the mainline games for now.

I can also test those on an emu before I buy them and the setting in the Mana Khemia games caught my eye...

Thank you for reposting the link like that, I'll check it out this evening before bed.
No need to delete the post, the link doesn't break any rules.

I was tempted to play this one first since it's a remake of the first game in the series but so many people seem think that it is not a good starting point that I'm not so sure anymore.
That's actually why I created this thread in the first place.
