When was the last time you got an actual phonecall?

Not cellphone call, the actual phone that hopefully most of us still have somewhere in our home. For starters I can't even remember the last time the one on my house rang, and I'm sure is at least a decade by now.

My family is a strange case. My mom works as a call center agent nowadays, but she works from home, so we do have a phone that rings at my family’s home on the daily. I don’t live there and haven’t for years, but TECHNICALLY the last time would have been while I was visiting and she was working.

As for the actual house phone, we took ours out long after they were out of use. Probably 2014 was the last time. Perhaps it would have been later, but it would have been my grandparents calling. Having a permanent home phone is a good idea, since you’re more likely to change phone numbers than change households. However, for us younger generations, it’s somewhat the opposite considering how out of reach much housing is. Regardless, it’s sad to see the technology fall by the wayside.

That's kind of how it is for most of us I'd say when it comes to a landline phone.

Slightly off-topic but tangentially related. I can't believe phone books used to be a thing. We must've had way more faith in humanity back in the day because I cannot imagine a phone book in this day and age. The thing would be the juiciest of fruits for all sorts of scammers.
