For others, myself included, it comes down to how the game divides up the stars and objectives amongst the cast instead of making them easily obtainable with only Mario like in the original. For instance, there are stars that need certain power ups to obtain, but in DS the power ups are now character specific. So if I want the star "Luigi in a Cage" I'll need to head back to the character changing room and pick Luigi, then go up to the attic of the castle to then do that objective. Granted, this is slightly mitigated if you find the character's specific hat in a stage or if you start the level with Yoshi to transform into said character, but then you have to make sure you don't get hit or else you lose the transformation. That's what I believe to be the main reason people don't give DS a chance when the 64 version just allows you to nab any star you want freely. I still think DS is good and worth playing though, moreso now that there's a hack to give it analog movement. [/QUOTE]
