My favorite meal in the world is my grandma's Spanish Tortilla, a family recipe that only she seems to know how to get juuuust right. It's really to be treasured now, and I make sure to enjoy every bite.

When that's not available, I usually make do with some Milanesas de Pollo, flanked on both sides by ketchup and mashed potatoes.

What about you?

I know very little about South American cuisine, but from what little I have tasted I have enjoyed it very much. We have pretty good cuisine here in Italy, too. My favorite dishes are quite simple: I really love pizza with double capricciosa topping (mushrooms, artichokes, cooked ham, black olives and of course the inevitable tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella). I also really love Florentine tripe, Sicilian rice arancini (stuffed most often with meat sauce and peas), but I also really like the Calabrian variant with "nduja" spreadable salami. Then there are days when I eat almost exclusively fresh vegetables both raw and cooked...in short, I have always been a big glutton!🤪🤪

homemade flour tortillas, enchiladas, tamales

is this a regional cuisine post in disguise? These are always fun.

I like store bought empanadillas. The Puertorrican answer to hot pockets. Pizza flavor is cheese and tomato sauce, but there are other fillings like cheese, beef and pork.

I also like mofongo. It's mashed plantains mixed with pork rinds.

And for dessert, flan.

Wow, literalmente yo. Nada le gana a una buena tortilla de papas. Genuinamente un patrimonio de la humanidad. Tambien podría comerme como 20 milanesas, deberían crear el día mundial de la milanesa de pollo.

Also, white rice for the win. That's what i take in my lunches almost everyday. You can give me anything to eat but if i don't get white rice with it, i will be dissapointed.

Woooooo! También sos argentino? Vamooo ;D

Agreed, that totally should be a holiday or something... we already have like three pizza days XD

I've had Tortilla Española as well. Don't leave me out of the party! Although I bet the Spanish original is much better than the Puertorrican version. Paella is another dish that is probably better in Spain than it is in Puerto Rico. And yeah the empanada suiza is a staple over here. Probably similar to the milanesa de pollo.

Haha, I have noticed that the Japanese do partake of the delicious custardy goodness that is flan. I know it was originally a Spanish dish and now most countries in Latin America eat it. No idea how it reached Japan.

No idea how it reached Japan.
My guess would be Portuguese traders (since Spain is a neighbor of Portugal, and the Portugese were the first European traders with Japan as far as I know).
That's literally just a guess though.

Chicken tikka masala is something I can rarely turn down anytime Indian food is an option

But when I'm cooking, its either beer chicken (or pork) or a steak cooked in chili oil and cayenne

I don't particularly have a favorite dish since I'm the type of guy who literally eats everything that's been offered or in front of me.
but if I have to think of a dish that I don't mind eating everyday it would be these
Halo halo

during the time i was still working full time on times I have freedom from work
I go to my local mall and buy games I will barely touch and walk around, during my walkies I always order the same 3 things for the past 5 years, 20 pcs. of shrimp tempura, 1 big bowl of Hong Kong style noodles with sharks fin dimsum, and halo halo for dessert.

I cook learned how to cook these meals from time to time (except halo halo you dont need to learn how to make it since its a staple dessert here) when I'm not busy from school or freelance or when I'm feeling down, however nowadays I just smoke a cigarette to relax or keep the brain worm from acting up.
its actually been 5 years now since i last ate em so lowkey misses them.

Eggs and rice! The best I've got (and the only thing I can make right now)
Other than rice though, I can make it with bread and putting some sauces with it...and that's all! Nothing else unfortunately

Halo halo

I tried Halo halo when I was in the Philippines.
Although because I'm a stupid westerner, I think I pronounced it wrong when I ordered it (I probably said it like "Hay-lo Hay-lo or something) and the woman in the restaurant looked at me so confused. I had to point to a picture of it so that she knew what I wanted.

It was a really nice refreshing dessert though. :)

it's a nice dessert specially during summer, also halo halo in english literally translate to mix mix
since halo halo is mixed of multiple ingredients and you have to mix them all to eat it so you have an equal portion of the ingredients at every bite.
also no I wouldn't call you stupid since tagalog is very.... you know weird.
my language in written format looks like someone smashed their head in the keyboard from a native english speaking perspective.
