What's the future for PS2 emulation on Android?

I'm not up to date on the emulation community. My job requires me to move around a lot in an area the size of a university campus, and that is why I use my phone for emulation (S24 Ultra) when I'm not at home. PS2 emulation is the most disappointing. Yes, I know the AetherSX2 project is dead; is there hope for a new emulator to rise and become as good as the Dolphin emulator, DuckStation, and Flycast for PS2?

On android? Idk. Last I heard it’s going ok but I guess not from the looks of things.
I’m on iOS and we basically get the same stuff, if there’s no ps2 emulator then android isn’t gonna be lucky.
Your best bet might be “!play”, but a lot of people don’t like it. Good luck habibi.

OH idk if this affects android but some emulators might be in your country’s google play store

I'm not holding my breath, but I dream of the day when I'm gonna be able to play Bully and other PS2 classics on the go (no, the Android ports of those games don't count here).

for me aethersx2 is good but at some games like Ratchet & Clank 2/3 the performance is bad and also ace combat 4 and MGS 2 and more games that 'works' but for a phone that have snapdragon 8 gen 3 is really really disappointing and I wish we have a versatile emulator like dolphin on android 😢

I just want to play Ratchet & Clank games on the go unfortunately the performance is so bad

I know the AetherSX2 project is dead....
It may be dead, but it's a great emulator, and if you apply the NetherSX2 patch you can eliminate the ads and other limitations of the demo version. I've played various PS2 titles on my Snapdragon 700 Readmi Note and it works great, with a myriad of options available to improve the emulation based on the game genre. It is truly an excellent and complete emulator, in my humble opinion.

I relate man. I ordered a backbone recently cuz it got discounted to hell (probably holiday sales). I love pairing my DualShock 4 but it’s not a sustainable way to play since it’s awkward to carry around and yes (and charge). Hopefully this’ll fix things.

I never do emulators on phones, only on computers
But the extraordinary thing about AetherSX2/NetherSX2 is that you can play PS2 games wherever you are, and even walking here and there: perhaps the most sophisticated emulator available on Android nowdays, on par with Dolphin. Or maybe I'm wrong? 🤔
