What are some games that you'd like to see a remake, reboot, or at the very least a spiritual successor to?

Myself?
-Decap Attack. Absolutely loved it when I was younger and feel like it, with enough modern polish, could easily turn into a winning title
-Super Baseball 2020. Another one that I love (so much that I bought the physical cart of the Genesis version). It's always baffled me that this has never been apart of any of SNK's Neo Geo re-releases when it easily eclipses Baseball Stars in scope. I mean, come on, you have FRIGGIN LAND MINES IN THE OUTFIELD!

What about you guys?

Zelda II: Adventure of Link.
I like the concept of having a Zelda game being a 2D side-scroller as most NES games are famous for. However it has lots of flaws such as knock backs, starting all the way back from the sanctuary where Zelda sleeps, items like bombs, boomerangs and arrows are not present, and it was too difficult. I want to see a remake done by either WayForward, IntiCreates or the team who remake Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap with quality of life feaatures such as difficulty options, new items and magic, and. Death Mountain being in the near final part of the game instead of completing Temple 1 and Temple 2.

My answer would have been Jet Set Radio, but we're getting that! Or, rather, HOPEFULLY we're getting it. Sega has been concerningly silent.

I need another Ape Escape BAD. I'm hoping Sony has realized that people still like fun cartoonish games after the massive critical success of Astro Bot. Imagine a new Ape Escape with the fidelity and quality of Astro Bot... Oh my god!!!!

I'd love an old-school revival of Ridge Racer. Bring back Sampling Masters, make it super arcadey, and bring back that sexy y2k UI from Ridge Racer 4.

Lifeline (PS2) would be awesome as a modern game. Better speech recognition, better AI, better writing. I'm not a fan of genAI, but if we lived in an alternate timeline where AI wasn't deleting all of our natural resources and stealing from hardworking underpaid artists, I think something like Lifeline would be awesome with in-universe generated responces from Rio.

I would love to see some PC-88 and 98 games be remade / ported.

There are a lot of classics and hidden gems that could be awsome with a grathic upgrade while keeping the design and feel from that time. We could even have some scummvm ports for the visual novals from PC98 / 88, of whichthere are many.

Cow Boys vs Gathulu (Libros De Chilam) is a fine example of an epic rpg locked to the PC like systems from that era.

I would also like to see J.E.S.U.S 1 and 2. These are space sci-fi horror games, which had a good level of charm, if you can put up with how long it can take to play these, and they where a sign of the times with floppy disc loading.

Unfornately, especially now with the current social environment, I feel iffy about any remake, remaster or spiritual sequel. Just look at the new Carmageddon, it seems so sanitized...

Hay, it does not have to be "official", if these companies cannot get their act together and make a product people want with out hte spyware and bloat in it, looking to steal your data and just simply exploit the user.

Considering local A.I and vibe coding becoming a thing, i would love to see people develop reverse engineering libraries for these games, and then port them unofficially. Look at some of the decompile projects with N64 to DC as a fine example.

Games should be about games, and i will pay towards it, which is why i have 20 copies of Hollow knight 1 and 2, becouse it was about the games, and being resonable priced to get as many people plaing it as possible.

The quality of it, i do not regret buying this game!

Lets hope 2026 becomes more about the games, and not about the companies and platforms.

I hope for an indi take over, then i will be forking over good money top play thier titles.

Too true sadly.

That said though, I would love to see something new on the Bounty Hounds front. It was an interesting if imperfect game that had some promise both in story and play.

Something fresh in the vein of The Guardian Legend would be awesome as well. If, that is, they didn't just turn it into another Metroid.

I'm tired of remaster this, remake that, reboot those... but...

Yes, Valkyrie Elysium exists, but it's far from being "Valkyrie Profile" gameplay.

Very doubtful FromSoftware will ever go back to Echo Night, since their audience is pretty much just Souls or Armored Core. And these two hate each other (from my friendlist). Let's see how many of you even remember Deracine.

Give Thread of Fate a Star Ocean: The Second Story R treatment, and that's enough for me.

I'm too stupid to play the original Carnage Heart and the EXA, and that will stay if they remade it. I just wanna see the crazy build people program their robot.

I'd love it if we got a game like Unreal Tournament again.
I'm not just talkin' competitive arcade shooter, I mean like a solid shooter with a great core gameplay loop that also just so happens to have some WILD movement tech! I mean, I've got a weird amount of time in Counter Strike Global Offensive for someone who's never touched the actual game modes since I was so enthralled by battle surf and bunny hop enabled servers! I really wish we could get another wild "unintended" movement shooter like Quake or pre-ZBlock Counter Strike.

I'd like them to reboot and finally finish the Loom trilogy.

I've heard a bunch of details about what that series was supposed to be like and frankly I'd have enjoyed seeing how it ended. Plus, it wouldn't be the hardest thing in the world to remake Loom 1 in the same art style but with HD rendering and a few QoL improvements.

Just take the sprites and graphics from the main game and re-make the entire thing in AGS, then just keep going lol.

Never gonna happen of course. I doubt anyone even knows who owns the IP anymore, unless it's still under the Lucasarts umbrella in which case it's going to be fucking Disney...isn't it ?

We still got Bomb Rush Cyber Funk. Though SEGA should really be saying about the three other projects they announced at the 2023 TGAs.

Comix Zone and Ristar could use a good reboot/remake. Especially the former.

Fighting Force I would not mind getting rebooted either.

I wonder if it would be possible to remake the two Castlevania64
games and not have them suck total ass.

While I thank God everyday that there is a "remastered" Bubsy collection, ::badpc
I would really like to see some of the old Star Trek games get the treatment.
There is no love for TNG on PC.

I would legit be happy if they would remake Klingon Honor Guard on PC. Hell, I'd at least like to see a GOG release or something.

I could say allot of games but what I want most is maybe not a remake or reboot or such but what I want is a Uncharted water collection with all the game we did not get translated. Like the Mega man anniversary collection or the Contra collection but with all the uncharted waters games and the ones we did not get translated.

Also they did remake Atelier marie so will we get a remake + translation of the other 2 games in the same series ?? I mean Elie and Lilie is part of the Salburg trilogy so not giving us the full trilogy would be a crime and makes me ask why remake and translate only one of them what´s the point ??

Its not remastered and kinda wonky but here's a link for STKHG that runs on windows 11.

I'd just like to see some of these older games up the rez and go widescreen. I'm struggling with Star
Fleet Command Gold I have the menus and vids in 16:9 1920x1080 but it sticks on loading game.

I’d love a remake or a spiritual successor to Conker’s Bad Fur Day. It never got the recognition it deserved from Big N, and that Xbox remake… ugh. That’s not Conker. I want CONKER.
That planned sequel they were working on back then? I still wish they had released it.
Is that really too much to ask? (Maybe.) ::huhsonic

I loved the first Ape Escape to death and I completely agree. While I think we did get something along those lines for the PSP, a modern update would be amazing!

I think Chris Seavor has gone on record saying that if they did a sequel, the humor would definitely not be as raunchy. Tonally it was kind of a comedic Hodge lodge and I don't think they could even get away with half of the stuff that was in there today
