How y'all doing. I'm a guy in my late 20's. Grew up in the hood with a mixed family. Super rough upbringing (was around alot of drugs, alcoholics, and violence. The normal hood experience) but always had video games and anime to keep me busy whenever times got bad. I first got into video games when I was around 3 or 4. I remember my biological father would sit me down on the couch, give me a cup of chocolate milk, and I would just watch him play videos games for a couple hours. We never really spoke or said anything, I would just sit back and watch. My earliest gaming memory is watching him play Ocarina of Time. The first time I actually got to play a video game is when he let me play Super Mario 64.
I was lucky to have a brother to play video games with when I was younger. We were both very competitive, so any 2-player VS games were always heated (in a positive way). Whenever we got a pokemon game, we would always end up choosing the opposite games from each other. I had leaf green, he had fire red, so on and so forth. We even played many co-op games growing up, so we had great team work. Sadly he is serving a life sentence (if you are in a bad mental state, stay away from guns), so he is more of a distant memory now.
I would consider myself a hardcore gamer, but not SUPER SUPER competitive. I always play to win, but it doesn't bother me when I lose. I love video games, but I never get mad or angry at them. If I'm not enjoying a game, I put it down for the time being and look for something else to play. I play alot of fighting games and anime games. I remember I played every single bleach video game (up until bleach brave souls) before I even sat down and watch the anime
.
I have used emulators alot throughout my life. But I recently got a high-end PC and 4TB SSD's. So now I have been building my retro collection and playing through some of the classics from when I was young or games that were only in Japan. Using emulation front-ends has also improved my emulation experience. Being able to see my whole collection of games in nice neat categories really makes me smile.
I normally don't talk much (only around friends and family I really bond with). Not even in games with voice chat. Hell, I never really talk in forums either. This is the first forum where I like to stop by and chat a little. I have been going to CDRomance for a long time. I ended up creating an account here when the repo was only accessible to people who have created an account. I'm very glad I did, I really enjoy the people here.
Before I go, here is a small piece of wisdom I can pass on to you guys. Most of my family was really bad. Lot's of them became drug addicts, alcoholics, and even murders. So I always felt like I had no family. But I remember being told something that really stuck with me. "People you call family aren't people you share blood with. Family are those you would bleed for".
Have a good day y'all, and stay safe
