This might sound stupid but, what's the writers guild?

It's the badge that allows members who have submitted an application to post articles and reviews on the site.

Applying is free for any member who has reached level 1, but applications may be denied based on several factors, including (but not limited to): topic, readability, formatting, grammar and spelling.

If writing is your thing, I recommend giving it a go -- you don't have to submit any set number of articles nor are you bound or forced to post every X amount of weeks (hell, we have Guild Members who have never even posted their first piece yet!).
