So I love a bit of off the wall thinking and perspective on what would otherwise be a straight forward way of thinking or idea about a games universe, story, or world building and I'm curious have you formed or heard one that has stuck with you?
Though old and totally false the Ash is dead or rather comatose really made me double think alot of Pokemons narrative and whoever came up with it did a pretty damn good job.
As for my own kinda pondering thought I've often wondered if the Metal Gear story is a actual world with moving parts and characters or is it just VR and the whole damn franchise is some train a big boss simulator. You have the VR cube in the ceiling of the Rex hanger in MGS 1. The conversations of MGS 3 are awfully.....strange for a grown soldier in thee most elite combat unit of it's day to have such child like responses and understanding also product brands and game dates are wildly incorrect, The years and music of MGS 5 do not add up what so ever nor does any of the tech for such a maticulous narrative that prides itself on being historically accurate with topics and world events.

Mario being evil is peak comedy.

If i had a penny for everyone that STILL believes the battle against Gyigas is an abortion metaphor...

Summoning demons through the computer

I love MGS too much and I think you are not technically "right", but totally on the right track. It's not reality, it's post-modern hyper-reality. The Cold War gets represented by a homoerotic rivalry between two soldiers. The absurdity of the military industrial complex and capitalism are taken to supernatural extremes with the government employing Vampires and Shamans to do contract work. In MGS3 Big Boss is only enthusiastic about guns, probably preferring them to women lol!
