Recently i've been think about the type of music you don't want to people know you actually listen to, and then it downed on me assuming about your personality/looks, what people would never assume you actually listen to?

Here are some of that i actually listen to:

Something i like to call "Cute-core" anything that can sound cute, like baby-metal or just playin old cute anime music

Condensed milk By Cyber milk chan

Hagareteku By Tokenainamae (shoegaze is awesome)

Last but not least
I've Seen Footage By Death Grips

I'm a Metalhead so I am surprised when people who actually listen to top 40 pop songs think SOME less serious pop tracks are beneath them. Like for them there's grades of non-Rock music and I find it hilarious because to me Eurovision, the Beatles, One Direction and Adele are equally cheesy.

But also I like this:

Proud of it, too.

Friend used to be a huge fan of her until the Girlfriend song and style change... RIP Tolik.

I freaking love Atarashii Gakko.

The type of music people don´t think I would lissten to.

I love 50-60s music allot.

Oldies is good. I like 70s Rock but it's probably the most expected thing by people who know me.

My entire family is convinced I only listen to VGM. I intend to keep it that way, anyone that mocks someone else's music tastes doesn't deserve to know that I am an avid JID listener

When I was growing up I almost exclusively listened to hard rock and heavy metal, so I assume a lot of people who knew me up until I was like 18 would still think I had that snobby metalhead disposition I did back then (I was one of those dumbasses who believed TOOL to be the most technical, deep music ever made).

Nowadays I like literally every genre, and I'm really not exaggerating. I'm not as well versed in some genres as others, but I think I have a very open mind when it comes to music in general. I don't like every subgenre though, I could never get into death metal for example.

One "genre" I kind of keep to myself is japanese music in general, because I'm a teeny tiny bit embarrassed because people might think I'm a weeaboo who listens to it because I heard it in an anime or something. I also like to keep melancholic music to myself. Not because I don't want to share, but because it kind of feels more personal when listening to it that way, and it's pretty hard to tell someone to listen to José González, because I have to be in a particular wistful mood myself to remember I like it lol.

Another one that might surprise people is irish folk music. I have no connection to Ireland at all, but I love the sound of it in general. The Dubliners were one of my most played on Spotify last year.
Old jazz in the style of Django Reinhardt or Klezmer music also isn't something that tends to come up in everyday discussion but I listen to pretty frequently lol

Game music, jazz, MPB, electronic, prog, classical, rock, experimental, all that people feel naturally suits my nerd tastes for some reason. But whenever I show then folk music they are like "What?? This doesn't sound like your kind of music at all!!!"

holy shit are you me

People tend to be surprised when they find out I like Metal and older Hiphop quite a bit. I have a pretty eclectic taste in music in general.

Unfortunately I look like a hipster, so regardless of what I whip out the usual response is “Of course you listen to this too.” It’s not ironic though, there’s good music in every genre.
I run into this problem too (well, it's not really a problem). Anyone who knows me would expect me to have a pretty varied music taste.

What I wonder is what you said. You look like a hipster?
Bro, I haven't seen anyone who looks like a hipster since like 2016. Most people's fashion is kind of all over the place. How do you stand out hipster-wise today?

That’s a good question, and I s’pose I’m thinking more of the 2010s than 2020s, at least in terms of fashion. I think it’s more the face; half-deliberate unkempt hair and constant half-smirk. Could also be that I live in a small town, so everybody’s heard me riding around bumping everything from top 40 to Tupac to chiptunes to Type O- to hymns, etc.

::banana Eurodance - Aqua, Culture Beat, Eiffel 65, Toy-Box, Hit 'n' Hide, Real McCoy, 2 Brothers on the Dance Floor, Rednex, 2 Unlimited, Dr. Alban, Fun Factory, Opus III, Captain Jack, Daze, Ch!pz, m.o.v.e.

Haha! You sound cool. Well, I guess neither of us can surprise people around us with music.

People look at my style and they'd guess I listen to hip hop, they would be right.
Except they never see my collection, hip hop is only what? 10% of it?

It's not that I actively hide what I listen, it's just that whenever I go and my dad is around, the cd player is his property, and he only plays Savage Garden or Blue or The Corrs.
