What job would you like to do if you could choose something else instead of the actual one?

Following Waffles' thread about your childhood's dream job.
Mine would be lawyer, but the TV ones. Like Boston Legal, The Good Wife, L.A. Law. I love the drama and rhetoric showed in the curt law.

I really want to work at home. I know it’s a cliche answer, but it feels suitable for my personality and needs. Just my two cents anyways ??‍♀️
My second answer would be my dad’s old job, he was forced to travel to many countries like Germany, Egypt, UK and Poland. I’d love a job that funds my travels too. Especially since my dad stayed in those countries for months. It sounds amazing.

Firefighter, the closest thing we got to a real hero.
Carter has a huge influence to me in my childhood.

Also whenever I did a career consultation thingie, both firefighter and investigator always appear at the top 3. I wonder why I pick IT career.

I agree with Yousef. I am a barista, but I want to do graphic design as my main job at home.

To be honest, “Barista” is also really high on my most wants list. Sounds relaxing, i love coffee and making hot drinks, plus there’s always chill people there, and nice to see regulars too ::thumbsupwario

Well, I work in the secretary's office of a middle school, with administrative and accounting duties. I tried for a year to be a history and philosophy teacher, but it was too demanding, and I am not objectively predisposed to teaching (little patience and empathy). Basically, I am satisfied with my job; I earn little, but I work even less, and I have time for my hobbies (mostly kungfu/jogging/workout and video games), which is what matters most to me. ?

Take it from me, I've been working with coffee for 8 years now. I was over a store of my own. It is not relaxing. Lmao. The regulars are cool, but that's about it. It's not what you think it is.

I wanted to be a programmer, but my math skills were awful. Still dream about it, but man, nobody makes games with QBasic.

Anything far far away from technology, specially programming.

Newspaper cartoonist
100% this. It sounds like best job ever — you get to draw cartoon characters and make jokes every single day, and get paid for it! Plus, you get to work in a highly-serialized medium with very regular updates, which is a luxury most other artists (even most other “content creators”) don’t have.

Sadly, from what I understand, the well has completely dried up — new newspaper comics basically never get picked up, and webcomics are a ton of work for zero reward. Cartooning is also well-known for being insanely time-consuming, so it’s not like it would be all sunshine and roses, anyways. ? Still, in a perfect world…

At one time I wanted to join the army, but there's no point today.

Oh yeah, a lot of my "dream jobs" are tied to specific points in time. I would've loved to be a cartoonist in the 80s or 90s, afterwards the market kind of dried out.

Job where you sit and watch advertisements and decide whatever will be on TV and for how long and how often. If I dislike ad so much I would order thugs to bring whoever made scenario for that ad and have that person to be lashed by a cat'o'nine tails.

I'm content with what I do now. It's quiet, peaceful, and affords me a lot of free time, even if the pay isn't the best.

Outside of that, I'd still want to do groundskeeping, but on my own land or property. It's a peaceful life.

been unemployed for nearly 18 years I would take Sucking D and the street corner. I don´t care about dream jobs or such. The idea of a dream job died when I was 20 and still could not get hired.
a close up of a man 's face with the words `` same here '' written above him .

Minus the first bit. I'm still trying to find a job here in UK. That doesn't mean that our dreams have to go away. Hang in there bub.

While as a candy store owner we are doing fine, i would honestly would kill for being a Stationery employee, while not as flashy, it is more plausible

For a big one, i would like to be an Webcomic or Novel Author

Sadly my fear that my dreams will never happen is the reason I got on medication.
I had a dream of wanting to go to japan ever sense I was 12 and I turn 40 in 4 months. I will die before that happens.

How it feels like is I will die at age 60 with more regret than a 15 year old ever had and I will die in front of my PC watching a hentai or play Final fantasy 23 or whatch anime.

My dream job is working with PC repairs like I did 2013-2013 as that´s the only thing im decent at.
Then save enough so that you can go to Japan, I know it isn't easy, just saying to save and then it magically happens, but spend time on yourself, the world is like an ocean, removing a cup of water doesn't effect the ocean, Live your dream bud. Ask someone if they have a old PC and then send it to a PC repair shop, ask them could they teach me something or to hire you. Trust in yourself, Push yourself our of the same cycle of like. All of us will believe in you, but most importantly, you must believe in yourself. Take small victories as you go. And speaking of death, he'll come for us all, does that mean we stop living, no, we embrace it.
