What is your favorite "Mahou Shoujo" transformation scene?

I don't know anything about this but I will just put here the greatest Sakura Cardcaptor, mostly for nostalgia and because I had maybe a little crush on her at that time?

Wait, isn't Wonder Woman technically a "mahou shoujo"? Well is the "anime & manga" section but I don't care, I like her transformation.

I dont know about magical girls, but here's how you pop a clutch.

First, you release the handbrake, then you shift into first gear (or reverse if you wish to go backwards), next, engage the clutch, and slowly release until you feel the clutch kind of catch, this is called "the bite," then rev the rpm to around 5000 or 6000, while simultaneously releasing the clutch. Congratulations! You have successfully popped a clutch.

This technique is quite useful if the battery in your car has died, and remains one of the reasons why I personally prefer driving manual. My next tutorial will be on rev matching, which is a precursor to heel toe downshifting. Stay tuned!

I hate to be talking about this show so much lately, but I love the transformation scenes in Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. They’re equally cool-looking and hilarious, and really take advantage of the girls’ cartoony character designs and colour schemes.

Here’s a little obscure magical girl I used to watch back in the ‘90s when I was a little twerp it’s titled Tonde Burin some of you may know it as Super Pig. It’s a story about a girl who gains super powers as she transforms into an alien pig.

Awww, heck yeah! I watched that one a lot as a kid.

I'm slightly ashamed I can answer this, & I 've seen my share of-

Oh I was gonna mention Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt lol
The Mawaru Penguindrum one also comes to mind.
But the only real answer is indeed Cardcaptor Sakura, because it's the only one as far as I remember where it actually changes per episode along with the wardrobe. Where the hell did Madhouse get their budget for animators 70 episodes straight!?

SUPER CERDITA!!!!! how could I've forgotten about her, shame on me.

As a huge fan of Gō Nagai's artwork, I can only mention Cutie Honey: in truth in childhood I didn't want to be her, but to court her (a euphemism for something else 😘). Yeah, I "woke up" at an early age.

Alternatively I mention Kekko Kamen, the lustful mask, but I had a hard time finding chaste and prudish images of her. 😅

Guys, we are talking about the father of japanese animation, initially despised above all for this "ecchi" side of him, and today also praised and revered as the father of erotic animation.

The best transformations for me are the ones in Lyrical Nanoha, that transformations have real feel of power in they weapons and make the magical dresses feel more like armors. but I can't recommend because japan can't contain themselves to sexualize minors...

Sailor moon and Card capture Sakura mostly because nostalgia.
Back in the days when I was younger the only anime/manga you could get hold of with out internet. Was Dragon ball, Sailor moon, Card capture Sakura and Robotech and Andersen Douwa: Ningyohime "Yes apparently it was an anime"
Does where the only show that aired on Local TV or could be found on VHS and Dragon ball was the only manga you could get.

It was only until early 2000s where anime became more easily accessible when more and more people could afford internet and when we got broadband internet.

So for me Sailor moon and Card capture Sakura will always have a special place in my heart.

I can affirm that any girl who changes her clothes and turns many times during her transformation (without feeling nauseous...) is perfectly classifiable as "Mahou Shoujo" 🤔

Can't say I'm very familiar with the genre, but lately I've been making an effort to watch some of the classics, which has included a few. Of which, I'd say my vote has to go to Sailor Moon, if only because they're very stylish and I really dig the soundtrack.

I can't help but love the ones from Mahou Shoujo Magical Destroyers. Anarchy acts awesome, Blue opens a can of fish and turns into something out of Junji Ito for a moment, and Pink... shoots up and mutters gibberish. Perfect.

I just remembered the most badass of all, Erza "Titania" Scarlet.

And that is her first armor, she has like what? 100 armors? Can't remember exactly. Her fights are cool to watch.

Magical Destroyers trasnformations were really fun. I should really finish that series someday. What a banger of an OP it has, too.

For my favourite transformation... Of course Sakura, the Sailors and all of the Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magica ones are up there, but for the sake of variety and seeing someone has already mentioned precure... I'll follow their initiative with the original Precures!
