What is your favorite era of anime?

Oh bugger, sorry, mate! I absolutely adore Kure-nai to the ends of the Earth, I just wanted something with a little more colour there. (Kure-nai is so obscure that there are only a few screenshots on Google Images to choose from.) Still an excellent, excellent show.
No problem whatsoever. I absolutely agree on Kure-nai. I've been thinking about reading the manga, which I'm aware is not the original source material but is at least finished, did you happen to go through it? I saw some art and it looked amazing.

Nah this is absolutely EZZZ, the 2000s were the blast. Out of the shonen era, gorgeous animation and we got stuff like Tokyo mew mew, Azumanga Daioh, Lucky Star, Bleach... So yea 2000-2010, the animation seems to have gotten more bland and generic for every single anime now, too.
I get you, and things have generally changed a lot (obviously) as anime became more and more popular, it's something we have to live with but it will never take away the beautiful decades of the 2000s/2010s and before that we will always have.

I'm not trying to be all negative of course as there are modern anime that have come out which I have greatly enjoyed such as some projects that Kyoto Animation has been releasing and something like Tatami Time Machine Blues. These sorts of projects just give me hope.

Late 70's to early 00's is a large period but I think it was when it started to be really interesting and even the early 00's had remnants of the Bubble.

I have a fondness for late 90's early 00's myself.

My favorite era is mid ‘90 to late 2000 Gundam Seed and Code Geass were among the best of that time.

Specifically the US market in the late 80s/early 90s where you had a bunch of old stuff getting put out here for the first time, but you didn't know any better because it was still a fairly new thing. "Japanimation" sections at video stores and then you get home with something you took a gamble on, and it hits you with this teaser video and you're like, "I don't know what the fuck is going on with this... there's a cat head coming out of a lady's face, some kid is staring down a tank and shit is exploding, this dude in his underwear has a crazy ass dragon tattoo... I want to see ALL of this stuff" and then it was a total crapshoot on what was ever in stock, so maybe you eventually got to see it or maybe you didn't. But it had a mystery to it, kinda? Just through limited availability. That's a hard thing to replicate nowadays, so even if the shows and movies after were better or not, it was a cool time to be interested in it.

Not modern. Everything is booba.
