SEGA titles from the 90s and 2000s can be seen as mostly Arcade like experiences considering the cross market they catered to, with aim of "bring the arcade home" which some can say lead to their doom partially.

These titles are still enjoyable, but it made me wonder what the longest experiences on SEGA systems are for the time frame, and how did it make others feel?

For me, RPGs, and adventure games held the longest, with Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue and the like being some of the obvious choices. Both grate titles and i had a blast playing and will be revisiting soon.

What are some of your experiences?

I have experiences but they’re too long to write.

Now that you mention it, even most RPG in Sega systems only lasts about 20 hours at most, at least the one that I played.
Anyway probably Shenmue, add the normal play hours plus time wasted like 10 hours or so wandering around 'cause I don't understand English back then and dunno where to go.

Did you feel the experience was enough for you? Did you enjoy it? What are some of the games you played?

It was a blast, I played Shenmue first before GTA so it is my first 3D sorta open world game I ever played, other than that I usually play action or cade ports, the most played title in my Dreamcast is probably Spawn.
As for Saturn, I only started playing it until few years ago so there are not many comparison, the longest game is probably Sakura Taisen 1 clocks in around 18 hours for me, either that or Rayearth.

Gonna be Baroque or Shining Force III if you count the scenarios as one
Grate choices! Did you replay Baroque to the point that you figured out what path you needed to take? i know that took me a week to figure out making notes. But then i am dumb ^^;;

Regarding Shining Force III, i definitely count them as one, for me they should have been released as a set, and being split up may have been a result of the Saturn being dropped and the company moving on to the Dreamcast.

Mystaria: The Realms of Lore (Blazing Heroes, Riglord Saga) on Sega Saturn took me roughly 21hr to complete. Grandia is another RPG that debuted on Saturn- took a good chunk of time to finish, although I played through the PS1 version back in the day.

It should be something like shenmue or SF3, but I'll have to give it up to Comix Zone. If you can never beat it, the experience lasts forever!

Shining the Holy Ark on the Saturn is the only one I can confirm my runtime, as I played through the game on my channel last year. 25 Hours, 22 Minutes.

Beyond that, Albert Odyssey and Skies of Arcadia took some time, but I don't recall how much.

EDIT: Shining in the Darkness on the Genesis also lasted a while (read runtime of 26h 19m), but that my timekeeping method was different then. That one was probably closer to ~22 hours.

Probably Shining Force 3, even though for one reason or another I've yet to finish it. I honestly think it is one of the greatest games ever made, and is in dire need of a wide release.

I'm implying all three scenarios, not the gutted 1/3 of a game SoA gave us back in the day.

English is my first language, and playing shenmue on release without a guide and having no internet in my house at that time to look anything up, I can assure you, you'd still get lost ::huhsonic

There's an early quote that all shenmue fans used, "excuse me, I am looking for some sailors" or "excuse me, have you seen any sailors around here" at the time. I can hear these lines.

Sometimes where you go and what you do is straight up given to you, otherwise we go and look everywhere at specific times of day or night till a cutscene is triggered

Sonic Adventure 1 had a similar issue of not making things too obvious as well when first playing it.

So for games made by Sega, longest single playthrough of a sega game is definitely Shenmue.
Followed by Sonic Adventure and Phantasy star online.

Though I've played streets of rage, golden axe and the sonic games plenty throughout the years.

Dungeon Master Nexus, brother, I started it last year and I'm STILL going through it. TO be fair, I have taken a break from it because it is a pretty slow RPG that really requires your focus, so I got a bit tired (I will pick it back up later because I refuse to just let it go back into the backlog)
