What games did you use to enjoy as a child/teenager but after you got older that love wore off?

For me, there were many from the PS1 era, I still have a personal fondness for a few games from those consoles, but unfortunately most of them would fall to me, examples include:
Crash Bash
YGO Forbbiden Memories
Disney's Hercules
Jackie chan Stuntmaster
Spiderman 2
Tomba!
Tom and Jerry in House Trap
Some were due to the difficulty, others due to the clunky controls and in some cases because they were very confusing (looking at you Tomba) but these are mine and I would like to know what your examples are?

Kingdom Hearts 1, PSYCH!!! Like I would get tired of that game. My actual answer is Super Mario World 1 just because a certain youtube channel won't shut up about that game to the point it made me think the game is overrated.

I still like this game today but I understand your point, I will always hate Deep Jungle for being one of the least linear and confusing levels of this game!

Painkiller: Black Edition. Loved it as a teenager. Revisitng it as an adult I've noticed the game isn't that fun. Has many bad design decisions and overall gameplay is kinda thoughtless.

Other than that a few years back, I've revisited my childhood ps2 games. One of them was Crash: Mind Over Mutant. Now even as a kid I was fully aware it's not as good as the Naughty Dog Crash games or games like Twinsanity but my good the game was so much worse than I've remembered.

Most of the Pokemon titles along with Tales of Symphonia come to mind. Going back to play the classic titles like Gens 3 to 5 and even Gens 1 and 2 after getting into Megami Tensei with 4 around the time it released. It felt like a struggle with how convenient the modern games with objectives, displaying weaknesses, lack of HMs, and especially EXP Share. Trying to play the older games, it felt like I had to swap every time to make sure my party got enough EXP, and even then it wouldn't be enough at some points. I felt like I was locked to either just my starter or another Pokemon unless I really had to add somebody new to my team before a gym to win.
Tales of Symphonia however is a pretty controversial one. It captured me when I first played it, the combat, characters, and storytelling were all great and it used to be one of my favourite games of all time. But this was in 7th grade, before I fully dipped my toes into the JRPG water of Megami Tensei. But the more I played the other titles in the series such as Abyss, Xillia 1 and 2, Graces F, Zesteria, and Berseria, the more I felt the gameplay and writing didn't match up or appeal to me as they did two to three ago when I played Symphonia. Heck, I also somewhat enjoyed the characters of Emil and Martha along with the monster recruitment of Dawn of the New World. It's still my least favourite, but I actually like the title a fair bit and don't think it's bad.

i used to be heavily into tactics games, FFT A2 was my jam back then, i replayed it like thrice in a month. now i can't stand them for some reason

I used to play FPS games all the time, but now that I'm getting older, I prefer more slow paced, relaxing games.

i remember enjoying the first god of war when it originally released on the playstation 2. now i find the entire series to be a bit boring and too simplistic in design for my liking
i also remember enjoying the game uncharted 2 on playstation 3 when it originally released. i too find that game very dull now

Shenmue, I borrowed my friends Xbox to play it back in the day and eas obsessed with it. Went back to try and play it... and it's not good.

The old 16-bit WWF games. They were fun to take over to my friend's house and just veg out with, and they were basically just marginal improvements from game to game with a newer roster, but if one of these came out now with the current roster, I don't think I'd even try it.

Roblox for me, I still go on it but it's such a drain. Undertale too

Minecraft Creative Mode (there are simply better sandbox games out there plus making stuff IRL is fun too) and Sonic The Hedgehog 2. I think the game is decent for the first 6 or so zones but once it reaches mystic cave it just turns into a slog where every 5 seconds your being slowed down by an annoying gimmick and having 5 billion enemies and hazards insta-kill you. Shame too since the final boss to date is one of the best in the series.

JRPGs. I was really into them as a teenager, growing up with ZSNES and the PS1 so I had an absolute gold-mine to enjoy. But these days, sitting through them is a slog, most of them are god awful and boring, and i've found i'd much rather be playing a racing game, a fighting game, or a platforming/metroidvania style game. There are a couple JRPGs I still love (Final Fantasy 7, Star Ocean 2, Chrono Trigger/Cross) but, yeah, just not really into it any more.

Most of my childhood treasures have gone through that, unfortunately.

I can't, for the life of me, sit down and honestly enjoy something like Apogee's Secret Agent without my nostalgic googles anymore, even though that was the first ever game I had considered my favorite.

My Genesis and PS1 games have aged better, but not by much. It's the warm feelings of childhood that keeps them on my shelves more than anything within themselves. But I'd argue from a certain point that that's actually better... Makes them less sterile and far more precious than they would otherwise had been if I had just loved them on their own. There's a lot of merit to having been the spark that ignited great memories between friends and family.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Crash Bash
Mario and Sonic at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games
Mario and Sonic at the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics
Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D Land
New Super Mario Bros. 2 and U
Nicktoons: Attack of the Toybots
Nicktoons: Globs of Doom

Not exactly a specific game, but more a genre: classic turn based RPGs.
I used to be huge into them, but now, my patience for them has waned quite a bit, especially if the games are overly grindy, or the fights go on for ages, even against the simple mobs.
What can get me through an RPG nowadays is if either it has a really good story/characters, or the fights are quick and snappy. Having both would be preferable, of course, lol.

Most adventure style games, especially jRPGs, that take more than an hr or so dedicated play time. I just don't have the time or patience for them. When I play a video game, I want to unwind and relax, not get involved in a grand adventure. Anymore, I find I play more Shooters and Linear 2D Platformers than anything else. Mostly 3rd and 4th gen on the Analogue Pocket (tho Ill gladly replace it when a Dockable Handheld MiSTer gets released).
