Greetings, fellow adventurers! I come forth with a question for you all. In your journeys—be it through video games, D&D campaigns, or other tabletop adventures—do you tend to stick with the "vanilla" option and choose to play as a Human, or do you prefer to delve into other races like Elves or Dwarves? I aim to keep the list as diverse as possible, but my options are somewhat limited. Feel free to share which classes you usually gravitate toward as well!

For my part, I find myself often playing as a Human about 90% of the time. Otherwise, I’d probably go for an Elf or a Dwarf. Back in the day, I was all about playing a Fighter, but these days I lean more toward playing a Mage. How about you all?
Also Lizardman also can be Picked for Argonian of course

It varies a lot depending on my mood at the time, and what kind of class I want to play.
I'd say human or elf are the most common though

I think I only really have elder scrolls as a frame of reference here, but I always take Argonian because of the water breathing.

At least I am more creative in the Elder Scrolls as you can't simply pick Human as a Race.......I pick Breton or Nord Usually.and we go again.Besides that Dark Elves can be Interesting to play.

If given the option I always pick a tiefling/demon type character, dark elf, then elf.
I always choose an evil archetype character, but that is actually just a fun loving goofball who the heroes more annoy than anything, because all I’m doing is out here living my best evil life. So I might have cast meteor or flame rain on a few hospitals and orphanages... that was my bad.

We won’t talk about the town I hit with a perpetual infinite ice storm, they said they wanted cooler weather. I gave it to them. How am I the villainess here?

I tried to recall if I ever picked other than the human race, and no I didn't. We are always the most balanced race. I also always go for the knight(sword+shield) or warrior(greatsword) class, and if possible cosplay as Guts from Berserk.

Honestly depends on my mood at the time, sometimes I'll first look around for an art referenec first and THEN make a tabletop RPG character to match that, sometimes it's the opposite. Most of the time it's humans, sometimes elves. I really like dark elves, female dark elves specifically. And fox women. But like, when playing videogames? Depends a lot. If I'm going with a male character I'll often go with humans, dwarves, orcs or dragon-folk. But when playing female, unless I have some special idea immeditately, I have created an OC I'll just replicate on every character creator and she can be a human, dark elf or have fluffy ears and tails if the game allows for it (fox, cat or bunny)

I might pick human just to get a hand on controls but yeah I'll be a lizard more times than not if given the chance. Not a fan of dwarves or elves unless it was Dragon Age.

They should do a third good Dragon Age Game I am still waiting.

Sure but I meant more in terms of a Video Game like Dragon Age Origins or Dragon Age Inquisition
You'll be waiting for a long time, I think Bioware is on it's last legs under Microsoft. You can hope in the next 8 years for the old team to reassemble and make a kickstarter to fund a game that promises to go back to the origins and then steal all your money, release bugged and unpolished game and fail to deliver the physical goods until 2 years later after the game releases.

You'll be waiting like I have with Wizardry then. Speaking of that series, that's the only one I played that gave me the halfling option and never got any other title since.

Yeah the Creativity and Quality is like a dry desert in those Big Companies nowadays they are not the same the where back then when the released those bangers.I guess we have to look into the Indie Developer scene and hope that something similar comes out.

I always choose Dark Elves (Drow, Dunmer), they have the most interesting lore in their respective settings. I love learning about their culture and feeling like a part of it.

I prefer the darker/edgier races when I'm not playing as a Dark Elf, such as Vampires (if they're a separate race), Demons, Blood Elves, etc.

I usually go with a Human and melee jobs ("Toukiden Kiwami" and "Monster Hunter" come to mind regarding the weapons, always sword/twin swords/long sword). Honestly now I don't remember other games in which you get to choose a race, but I'm sure I've played some.

Always if I can Dark elf or Drow and if I can´t normal elfs and if in desperation always Dwarf honestly ANYTHING but humans. Because F humans.

BG3 Drow
Elder scrolls games dunmer and Argonian
Tera, Elin and Castantics
Sun haven Naga
WoW Goblins female freaking love Goblins as well.

But yeah Dark elf and Drow always NR 1 if I can.
Man I wish more games allowed me to play Naga

Last time I played an Elder Scrolls game I used an Dunmer character named Pirotess
