They say you learn something new every day. This is a thread to share that knowledge.
If you learned some useful skill or concept and are excited about it, share it here so we can all learn from it.

Today i learned about the "bag theory", that is about humanity evolving thanks to the bag concept as the most important tool for our development as species, much bigger than the stick to kill other animals.

I have learned from life that I must accept my weaknesses and flaws, essentially for two reasons: to know myself better to constantly improve, to be stronger and to live in peace with my fellow human beings...

You don't know how much time you got left.
Don't act like it's forever, or even a long time. Odds are it isn't.
So, just, don't waste your time arguing with others.
And try to live the best you can.

In the course of a lifetime, we inevitably accumulate many things (including video games), especially in the period of our youth - where we feel immortal...with the result that in old age we find ourselves flooded with memories good or bad.

That mosquitos once fed on dinosaurs.

Did you know that the adjective "Jovian" means "of or relating to Jupiter"? The term can be used for both Jupiter the planet and Jupiter, Roman god of the sky. For example, you might say:

"Boy, I can see those Jovian moons through this telescope!", or
"Boy, in the Roman pantheon, there certainly were a lot of Jovian worshippers!"

I just discovered this word, instantly loved it, and am going to try sneaking it into a natural conversation I have over the next few days. By Jove!

I learned that we don't use Daylight Savings time were I live anymore...
(We haven't since 2022, but I guess I forgot and got to work late)

I don't know if i can say this but...
today I learned that your anus is 2.5 inches wide and could stretch up to 7 to 8 inches before taking any damages, and that a fully adult raccoon can fit into holes that are 4 inches.
meaning you can in fact fit 2 adult raccoons in your anus without causing any severe physical damages.

To have projectiles properly work in Godot, you have to specify the direction before adding them to the world. Also, to look at the direction of a UI Element, you can use the Camera3D.project_position() passing the position of the UI Element (Accounting for any offset since UI elements position starts from the top left) and then just passing a big number for the z_depth (1000) works.

Moving UI Elements with input can be fragile, using lerp() functions handles this behavior smoothly instead of applying input and multiplying with delta.

Today I learned there was a 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle tabletop roleplaying game based on the original comics, from before they had mainstream success. I did a dive in on it, and it's a little wild. You're always a mutated animal in it of course, but you can be mutated through other ways than green ooze. It's got all the retro RPG rulebook goodness; gratuitous typos, nonsensical organization of rules, said rules ranging from either overly detailed or barely explained and incredibly funny random generation tables.
It's by an indie publisher, Palladium Books, who had a variety of different systems back in the day meant to be adaptable and used together.

I was listening to the radio and someone called in requesting a double shot of Alice In Chains with the unplugged version of Nutshell. The DJ talked about how Layne wanted the candles on stage for a dark atmosphere. He bought the candles in Seattle himself and brought them to New York for the taping. I never knew that.
