What are some of your favorite mystery anime?

When i say mystery anime, i mean when there is a deeper story behind what is being shown to you. Shows like:

Last Exile
Lain
Macross Zero
Re:Zero
Laputa: Castle in the Sky
Heck i think Berserk can fall under this category, as we are still yet to see the whole story.

For me one of those would be Another, honestly it's not that deep but the little town where it takes place is weird and feels like the curse on the classroom is just the tip of the iceberg

Monster for me is a deep cut, loved that show back in the day!

Monster is excellent. I also count Detective Conan and Poirot and Marple, even though these latter two are more traditional in their setup.

I think Mushishi falls into this category. In any case, it remains rather mysterious to me and I really like the peaceful nature of these little tales.

I'm reading a lot of mystery manga right now, but since we're talking about anime, my favorites are:

1- Made in Abyss
2- Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (All parts)
3- Ghost in the Shell
4- Spriggan
5- Erased

I also recomend watching Bokurano, Darker than Black, Dorohedoro and Parasite: The Maxim. There is also a manga that will soon have its anime release called Gachiakuta, which is more of a dark fantasy with its share of mystery.

Spriggan another deep cut for me! loves the manga, and the netflix show was not bad at all.

I re-watched the movie dvd from the 90srecently, would have loved more movies then, but like Berserk, i will take what i can get at this point!

Second it. Meitantei Conan is one of the best anime of all times. I don't like long animes so I don't watch them, too time consuming. But if I had to watch one of them I would choose Meitantei Conan without hesitation.

Yeah, it can be a deep dive, keep at it, as Kashern and other tetsunoku stories are worth the read.
