I found CDRomance/RGT because of wanting to play Kyuyakyu Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei 1 and 2. I was in the process of buying a house and virtually homeless (living in a camper in my parents back yard for a month with my girlfriend). Strangely deep and complicated RPGs to play during such a rough time, you must have a lot of downtime to really have to focus on something else like that during.

I was homeless not poor lol. I haven't had to work for awhile but I'm not rich either, but all of my money was going towards the house at that time. I have been both before too though. Lol

Fast forward to a couple years later, my friend and I found a cell phone and spent 3 months trying to get it back to it's previous owner. When they repeatedly didn't show up to meet us, she decided it was mine now. So now I had a smartphone I never wanted to own in the first place. So I did what any gamer would do and loaded it to the brim with ROMs.

I'd still rather be homeless than poor though. I can deal with being homeless as long as I've got enough to get by on.

I think they are, but I love them so much I play 'em anyway. I do know one of them got an update awhile back, so maybe they're still being worked on.

Why is there so much coverage about this line? I never thought it was much of a big deal back when I played it, and it's still on point with what the original script was going for.

The only differences lie in the subtlety of the japanese culture and portrayal of such.. human feelings.

No. Not only is it blatantly wrong, it envokes a completely different tone. The original Japanese version merely states that Arche has a certain charm or likeability factor that's hard to resist. No raunchiness whatsoever.

Plus, there's a couple other egregious mistranslations besides that one; like Arche's response to the ship's captain turning down her offer because she's a kid or Mint no longer saying that the ocean breeze is beautiful.

DeJap's translation really is an abomination that I can't even recommend to my worst enemies. It rivals Working Designs localizations.

I hate when translators add their "OMG I'm so quirky and funny" writing. I just want the original authors intent, beggars can't be choosers for fan stuff, even though it's annoying. But it is fucking outright detestable in commercial products

It's close enough to the author's intent for the american audiences it was designed for to understand the premise of what's being discussed. If it were phrased with more subtlety, it would have strayed from the point and purpose too much and thus been "lost in translation".

I don't see anyone else in the 90s doing a better job for free out of their own pocket while attempting to convey the same sentiments to an audience in an entirely different culture.

I noticed you two were disagreeing and I wanted in. I love arguing about this shit. But, as you wish
