What are some of your favorite bittersweet ends?

Ive had Tekkaman Blade's end in my mind lately as I finished the series fairly recently, which ultimately lead me to ponder what other media I enjoyed with bittersweet ends.

One thing lead to another and now im extending the question to here. Whats some media you all enjoy with sad but happy ends?

In Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans the main character died without seeing the realization of a better world that he was fighting for.

As everything changed for the better he wasn’t there to witness it.

Breath of Fire III is one of my favorites. You free humanity from Myria, but the Desert of Death is released upon the world. Is the world better or worse off?

genuinely felt rewarded for having played everything up to that point as well as being given time to let those moments sit and i would like to pretend this was where we ended the series

other ones that are worth mentioning but feel a little obvious are like

persona 3 (answer and funnily enough the movies too)

Persona 3's ending hit me like a ton of bricks, same with the end of Cowboy Bebop.

One of my personal favorites, though, is the end of Link's Awakening on the Game Boy. Seeing that seagull fly by and knowing that Marin got her wish gets me every time. It's so classic Japan. The end isn't this perfect, everyone-gets-what-they-want ending, but it's hopeful, even if the sacrifice was huge; Marin defied her own fate.
