I think it was a pretty fun and funny show.

That fact that the Shinichirō Watanabe of Cowboy beepop also was involved, was the icing on the cake.

My GOAT.

Also, my personal headcanon is that Space Dandy is the same universe es Cowboy Bebop, but in the far future. After all, they share the same currency: woolongs.

"A World With no Sadness, Baby" struck such an emotional nerve with me.
A friend showed me Space Dandy, as it was a favorite of his in school. Such a fun, silly show. But goddamn- it knows how to make you feel something.

Great series. I think it's the last really good series Watanabe worked on, everything he's done after this has been very mediocre imo.

Sorry. I have ZERO interest in Samurai Champloo. It just REEKS of trying too hard to recapture what made Bebop work.

However, I DO have interest in Watanabe's first anime, a 1994 OVA series he co-directed with Shoji Kawamori, and is not only the best sequel show to any anime, but is also my favourite WORK OF ANIME, let alone OVA, of all time:

Nah, i do not get what you mean by the try hard element? No rapping in Cowboy beepop, as it had more of a jazz and Noir vibe. Also it had some humor, but not enough it would damage the chill nior vibe. This is what made Cowboy beepop so good.

With Champloo more Rap and the way of the samurai / shogun seemed to fit well Imho. And i could appreciate it for being it's own thing wile not wanting it to be another beepop, as it was not, and for me Nujabes fit the show well. And Samurai Champloo is what got me involved in collecting Nujabes, may he rest in peace.

Regarding Macross plus:
Yeah Macross plus was ok, but i did find it very annoying for the most part, especially the whole over dramatization of the potential love triangle with between friends, and hiding that Guld Goa Bowman attacked them, which he forgot aboot... And his friends wanted to protect him from the memory... yeah i found it a little worrying there. What was the takeaway? Protect the perpetrator at the cost of the victim?

Unless i misunderstood something?

I prefer Macros Zero, and even do you remember love more then plus, just as they are less problematic.

And take it form me, i am a snake!.

Hmph. Well, I should've said "I have no interest in Samurai Champloo", but my brain wasn't working at that time.

And I do disagree with your opinion on Macross Plus: The main themes of the OVA are that love can motivate us to do bad things, and that acceptance is the first step to bettering ourselves. That's why Isamu and Guld's rivalry is what it is: The former is aware of the bad thing Guld did in the past and is rightfully paranoid, whilst the latter is also aware, but is actively trying to forget about it and move on: They're both aware that what Guld did was morally wrong and it was ultimately out of his love for Myung, but the way they cope with it is at odds with eachother: One knows and has moved on, the other is trying to forget rather than accept. The fact that the main antagonist of the show is an AI pop star who becomes self-aware and infatuated with Isamu, yet is incapable of the same reflection and acceptance as our leads, only furthers these messages. It gets more pronounced in the film cut with the new scenes of Guld taking medication in his efforts to forget and Sharon explaining why she did what she did to Myung at the end.
However, to each their own here. We each have different tastes when it comes to the shows and films we consume and we are capable of drawing different meanings from what we watch and play. So ultimately, different strokes for different blokes.

Stop trolling, sis.
Come over here, repeat with me.
"SPACE DANDY IS GREAT!!!"

0 IQ,
We know.
😱oh no! The “Jiggy” is up! Time to reveal the truth and… get Jiggy with it!
Yes, I adore Space Dandy so much. One of my favorite shows period, I love me a spazzy comedy to bits and it fits my tastes like a glove. Reminds me a lot of Bobobo and many of my other favorite anime.
