So, over the past week or so, I’ve been sorting through some old backups I managed to dig up—turns out they were scattered all over the place. And, surprise surprise, I stumbled upon a full Slayers compilation that I must’ve downloaded ages ago.

That got me thinking—I noticed that some of the Slayers games have made their way into the repo (though not all of them, if I recall correctly). Are any of them worth playing?

I’m not really into SRPGs, so I tend to prefer the SFC release. Do you have any recommendations? Also, is the PC-98 version any good? Thanks!

The SNES Slayers is forgettable. In fact it's so forgettable that I had to pull up my files to confirm that I beat it in 2010. Usually I don't forget entirely that I beat a RPG. But it also means it wasn't horrible, otherwise I'd remember it for that.

I think SNES Slayers is all right. Not groundbreaking, but good in a Dual Orb 2 way. Sadly most games aren't translated.

PC-98 Slayers looks kind of cool due to the animations, but in all honesty, its probably jank.

The SNES one, the only one i played, is good, not exactly Earthbound, but still good

I've been playing it on occasion, and I don't really think that's the case. It's definitely in the "takes a while to get a grip on it" category, but overall, I'm really having fun with it. The English translation that got out in September is great, too!
