So it would appear that Nintendo are locking off certain Mega Evolutions behind BOTH a paid NSO subscription and online ranked competitive play:

Pokemon Legends Arceus from 2022 was such a breath of fresh air for the franchise, because it was entirely single-player focused. You could complete the Pokedex entirely on your own. There wasn't a 2nd or 3rd version of the game you needed access to to get every Pokemon. You could trade with other people, but you didn't have to. Legends Z-A seems like it'll be a far cry from anything that felt special about Legends Arceus, and as though it'll be a sequel in name only.

Oh, and if you use Pokemon Home to transfer Pokemon to Z-A, you apparently won't be allowed to transfer them back.

Fucking hell, lol... The actual audacity of this company. I think what's more frustrating to me is knowing that there's gonna be people genuinely defending this and are gonna let Nintendo get away with this.

I think it'll still sell really well. New Pokemon game on a new Nintendo console, and it's still available for the OG Switch as well. As you said, most people won't know or won't really care and will probably buy it anyway

Dawg what….Does Nintendo even know just how bad of a reputation modern mainline has with actual fans? Honestly every time I check news related to the series it’s always “merch merch merch”. Even knowing that it's modern Pokemon, God it still sucks to see that they are going harder with the monetization with NSO to even lock certain mega evolutions behind it. I'd hope for the best to happen but knowing how the game will turn out, people will still buy the game and try to defend it even if it's quite clear that this is super greedy. Well at least there's that new Digimon game around the corner.

Oh well, time to get back to my Ultra Moon and keep the idea that it was the ending of Pokemon games
