Thought this might be a fun topic.

Got the itch to watch some of the old DIC shows, namely Super Mario Brothers Super Show, Adventures Of Super Mario Bros 3, and Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog (not SATAM). Absolutely loved them of them as a child.

It's just very interesting to me to see how these properties are adapted. Obviously there's the Archie Sonic comic (and Fleetway's Sonic The Comic lest we forget the brits), but there's also Super Mario Adventures from Nintendo Power and Valiant's Nintendo Comics System

Also, Sonic The Hedgehog Pasta, need I say more?

Man, that old Mario cartoon was pure joy. And here’s a wild bit of trivia: in Brazil we actually have three different dub versions of it. One has this annoying background song, another has a really odd voice cast, and the last one has these random loud screams. Absolutely crazy.

Now, if I have to pick a favorite adaptation, I’m going with Street Fighter II Victory without a second thought. Great fights, epic music, and the Brazilian dub is perfect. What a badass show, seriously. I love it so much I rewatch it every year, it kinda became a tradition. Even my dad joins in; he always sits down to watch it with me. It’s one of those shows that age well and still hit the spot.

It used to air on Starz or Encore when I was growing up and the English dub had an AMAZING opening theme that is literal testosterone in song form

This might be a niche one by but I think the best video game movie is Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva. Mainly because It's not an adaptation but rather a side story.

The Others I like are Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie, The Sonic OVA, Sonic X and Ace Attorney (2012).

I loved the Sonic OVA. My babysitter bought the ADV dub of it for me and I watched it like crazy. Weird how it was an adaptation of the Sega CD game and not the more well known mainstream ones

One of my favorite things about being off sick from school was catching the Super Mario bros super show at 3pm but it was rare to catch a Zelda episode. I think they only aired them on Fridays.

Zelda has a pretty good manga series that turns each game into a volume (or 2). Kirby Manga Mania also comes to mind, but that thing is a goddamn fever dream lol.

I guess we can talk about the Netflix Castlevania series, but... I'm not a fan of it. On the other hand there is Castlevania: Awakening of the Moonlight, a takarazuka play I'm very hyped to see a (hopefully) DVD release of with subtitles.

Bayonetta Bloody Fate is not a perfect movie, but I do like it lol.

Oooh, how could I forget: Dragon Quest - Dai's Great Adventure, even if there is a game about it now, started as both a manga and a show (I think).

That is all that comes to mind that is worth looking up, lol. I mean, nothing stops you from also checking Uwe Boll's movies, I guess.

Gungrave PS2 game was adapted into an anime which far surpassed the source material in every way possible.

I do believe there's a few fairly highly rated Bloodborne board games. But I've never given them a try myself.

Armored Core got that one Secret Level episode with some good mecha action in between showing off some guy whose name is an anagram for Eureka Seven sounding just like me when I encounter a slightest inconvenience.
a better look at AC Shrieker.jpg

Shrieker was pretty sexy though, just look at those legs. Shame the game never got the new parts.

getting to see the mario cartoon was always a treat.

i have the '90s nintendo power comicbooks for super mario adventure and zelda: a link to the past. i read them soo many times when i was a kid.

my copy looks worse than this but i think i still have it

tryrushdeppy3 those darkstalker books look really cool

you could argur that a lot of what we now consider to be hatsune miku was created in the sega games and then turned into something else

I loved that one too. Shotaro Ishinomori's artwork is gorgeous and wish his other manga (especially the original Cyborg 009) was better in print

I like to collect (well, and watch and read) video game stuff in other media forms. Here are a few things I own that have been mentioned in this topic already:

Take good care of that fist Sonic issue because that goes for some crazy money

One comic that I don't think I see enough people talking about is Archie's "Nights Into Dreams"

Really good stuff from what I can recall, but it's not well preserved online as the scans are impossibly small
