but more properly on the subject of VGM that resembles one another, i remember a bit of an old running gag was this song in Sonic 06 sounding like Flashman's theme from Megaman 2. in fact i could not remember its generic name, but searching "sonic 06 flashman" brought it up as the immediate top result

Brawl felt like the last time they went in a specific direction (Rock), Ultimate’s weren’t bad though. Smash 4’s tended to be a little weird and I thought Melee’s were eh for the most part
