In news that shook the 3D fighting game community all over the globe, Virtua Fighter made its triumphant return to the modern gaming hemisphere via both the announcement of a new game spearheaded by Ryu Ga Gotoku studios, the brilliant team behind the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise, and the announcement of a brand new remaster titled Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., acting as a revival of the iconic 2006 series entry, Virtua Fighter 5.
The game is set to release on January 27th according to the Steam page. Although the official game website lists it as the 28th, could be a timezone thing. The game is listed as being $15.99 and is currently up for pre-order.
Rollback Netcode added
One of the most important changes to highlight is the addition of Rollback Netcode, a feature that was sorely lacking in the previous remaster, Ultimate Showdown. If you’re unfamiliar with Rollback, there’s a fantastic video explaining it in 3 minutes that’ll get you up to speed.
This addition puts R.E.V.O. up there with modern fighters, and ensures a team that’s aware and doing its best to deliver a quality game, as expected of RGG.
It also worth noting that even though Rollback won’t be added to Ultimate Showdown, all the balance changes in R.E.V.O. will be heading its way to ps4 users regardless, as tipped by reliable forum user; @Somnia.

Yakuza Costumes!
Not only is it quite the novelty seeing series protagonist Akira Yuki cosplay as the Dragon of Dojima, while pulling it off really well might we add, but the Ichiban outfit, protagonist of the 7th and 8th numbered main installments of the franchise, looks so true-to-life, it’d fool this article’s author if they didn’t know any better!
