Movies were a huge part of my childhood and ended up with a good amount that I hold dear. Weirdly enough, MOST of them aren't kids movies. I have those in James & The Giant Peach and the first Rugrats movies as sentimental faves and some of it had to do with those being rare occasions my family went to the movies. But most of my faves came from TV airings, VHS VCR recordings, and a box of cheap VHS tapes my dad "found" one day. With that my faves ended up being movies like Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon, Jackie Chan's The Young Master, that SNL movie Superstar, Rush Hour, and Next Friday. Ended up watching those flicks millions of times .Then thrillers like The Negotiator and Double Jeopardy. Random faves as a boy happened to be The First Wives Club(RIP Diane Keaton) and Death Becomes Her. Had more than a handful of kids movies on VHS including Disney classics from the 90s but they never truly stuck with me as a child 😅

UNPOPULAR OPINION:

(I kind of liked the emoji movie...)

This is probably my favorite movie ever:

I have rewatched it who knows how many times and it never loses its edge.

I love its 1st movie a lot. Never met a person who likes this movie and all my buddies and friends I told this movie about were like "how could you like such a movie *pukes*" lolol. They don't understand how I like the "irony" of a "superhero", how the movie realistically potrays society and makes fun of the world and stuff. Sure the realistic gore is an extra significant fun, the "controversial" scenes are "ewww" but the movie really made for my taste TBH yummy lol.

Usually I talk about horror movies. But one of my favorite movies is a drama called But I'm a Cheerleader. It's about a cheerleader that's a lesbian that gets sent to a camp to try to turn her straight (which is an absolutely evil thing to do to anyone). A lot of the movie felt relatable.

Prolly this one, only got to see cus it's referred in Lady Gaga's MV "911":

Other than that, the following are all shorts (you can find most on YouTube or The Archive.org):

I first watched it on Cartoon Network and I'm in love with Dracula's daughter.

John Dies at the End
I still need to see this one. I enjoyed the novel immensely but the last time I tried out a movie adaption of a book I liked—Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter—I was sadly disappointed

As for an odd movie I like, I'll pick The Last Unicorn because despite having a unicorn as the protagonist, it was not meant for children. My mother didn't know that at the time, so I got to watch a wizard-in-training get sexually harassed by a large-breasted tree he accidentally brought life while trying to escape the ropes binding him to said tree.

Yo I LOVE John Dies At The End. Got that on blu-ray.
Apocalypse Now
John Dies at the End
Vanishing Point
Redline
Lisztomania
Wizards
Man, I love JDATE and all David Wong/Jason Pargin's books. I'm trying save up for a Three-Arm Sally tattoo and have the Lyrics for Camel Holocaust tattooed on my side.

I also have a tattoo from his other Zoey Ashe series on my chest

Great movie, even better book and Author in my opinion

OutroAnother movie that's close to my heart.

It's a bit of a janky film but I really always enjoy Mirrormask (2005):

It's a surrealist British film and the plot is all over the place, but I enjoyed the visual style and the score was excellent. If you're into moves that are heavy on world-building and not heavy on anything else, I can recommend it.

Bonus recommendation: The Revenger's Tragedy:

another janky piece of cinema. It's a Jacobean drama with a contemporary setting that stars Christopher Eccleson and Derek Jacoby. It's also an interesting watch though a little dense and...well, Jacobean.

Not sure either of them are what you'd call "good" films, but I genuinelly think they're intersting watches.

I love Dark City. Its so much more than the Matrix ripoff people think it is. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929

Jennifer Connelly is hot, Rufus Sewell is hot, its just the best.
Dark City came out first. So the people calling it a "Matrix rip off", don't know shit. Speaking of pre and post Matrix: Drive (1997) and Jet Li's The One. The action scenes in the former shits on The Matrix and its sequels. While the latter I find a better Matrix style film than those sequels. Princess Mononoke is my personal favorite animated film.

Aside from favorite movies, here's one that I like along with my favorites. I actually got to see it in the theater when it had just come out.

To me from what I saw, it got screwed here in the US by everyone saying it was a sequel to the Showa era movies. People couldn't comprehend a reboot back then. "What do you mean you haven't seen him for 30 years? He fought MechaGodzilla!" When the movie got going, my little mind got it back then. "Oh, so hasn't been seen since the first movie? Pretend all the other movies never happened? Got it." I liked the tone of the movie, wished that the other movies that came after, (which I didn't know existed till 1991, mother fuckers) would have had.
I like the US version 1985, (cringe US parts and all) beside Return 1984's original cut.
