my friend has some rare retro games for example a CIB pokemon colosseum for game cube and other stuff. i'm trying to figure out offers and stuff for all the games. can someone give some tidbit's and stuff like that. i heard it's wish to sell a game at 75% less value then it's worth. so i gain 25% and they gain 75% i'm not sure how it works. we are trying to get cash also.... i'm going try to go there on saturaday. so let me know about tips (btw i'm not selling these online or here) i just want some advice.

Pawn shops will absolutely rip you off. You would be better off eBaying or Amazoning them and setting a starting price if you want to auction them, or a set price for selling. Don't forget to include the shipping and handling costs.

I know the pawn shops here for a year-old laptop, they will give you maybe 100 to 150 dollars and resell it for 400 to 500. They have to make money, yes, but they will absolutely scam you.

Go to pricecharting.com and compare existing prices. if they low ball you go somewhere else. Remember you have a right to walk away and find a better deal in another place. Try retro game stores too and see what they offer. Then compare to all of them too see what gives you a better deal.
So far GCN games are going down in price thanks to Nintendo Online subscription shenanigans, so better now than later when prices continue to drop.

what the funny thing is that there's a retro game store next to the pawn shop i'm looking at. i would list the games and stuff on a market site i use but we both need an agreement for what card to use and stuff like that. so i'm going try and see there price range and stuff and if they take the games i have. he has GBA Games NDS games 3DS games PS2 games and PS4 games.

I have had absolutely piss-poor experiences with this sort of thing... It honestly felt like walking into the jaws of the shark.

I still remember walking into a shop that had a reputation for "fairness" when I really needed the money, how the guy put on his best """connoisseur""" face, how he began to examine my pristine (hardly played) copy of Final Fantasy XII-2, how he then checked the case, logos, codes... And decided that it was worth about 1/5 of what I had originally paid for it, even suggesting that he was doing me a favor by extending such an offer. He wouldn't even trade for it.

You are way better off auctioning them on your own, man.

If nothing else, like Nebulon said, research the prices maybe drop them a little but not by much and have a set price. Basically tell them, "This or I go elsewhere."

You could always use the Bullshit line of "Such and such at Store X offered me this much" of course saying a bit more than what you want.
Worse they can do is say No

I'd absolutely recommend selling your games via ebay or the like instead. It may be a hassle, but it's your best bet to get what it's worth.
As the others have pointed out, pawnshops will absolutely rip you off - that's kind of their job, pretty much.

Pawn shops should be your last choice if you need money right away, you are probably even better just outright "pawning" them to a friend you trust for the amount you need and can get the money later on to get them back. Ebay as others mentioned is good but not to get money right away unless you are selling games that people are always looking to get such as Pokemon and the likes.

you're better off selling on ebay
